I remember this storyline well and Coronation Street covered it so well and Johnny Briggs was excellent.Blanche was funny in this even though it was such a difficult storyline.
Johnny was thrilled about the storyline. He didn't just want to walk into the sunset, he wanted to go out big!And he did! He had to have done his homework too! Check out *"Farewell Mike"* .
Danny was looking into it. They even went to visit one that was pretty decent. Then, when Danny reminded Mike of the place, Mike replied with a laugh, "I can still smell it!" I think that was the day when he was doing good and talking to Fred about his golf game. Fred(to Danny) : You'd never guess there was anything wrong with him. Danny: It's a lottery, Fred. Days like this are as close as we get to a win.
alzheimers doesn't necessary get rid of muscle memory... just actual memories of people, events etc! people with alzheimers tend to have their head stuck in the past... and not necessarily a particular date, it all gets muddled up together as one... but if they were good or intelligent at something in the past, it's not that surprising that they are still good at that thing now...
Superb acting here by Johnny Briggs. It's sad to think that all three actors at the table in the cafe scene have now passed away. RIP.
God bless you Anne and Johnny xx
A truly terrifying depiction of Alzheimer’s. He was a very good actor.
It is. It's very well done how you still have moments of the old Mike (playing draughts) amongst his ongoing deterioration.

RIP Johnny Briggs. Loved Mike. Very sad how he was written out like this but dementia affects lots of people
Johnny was really impressed with the storyline. He wanted to retire but he also wanted to go out BIG. He did that.
Who's here after hearing about Johnny Brigg's (Mike Baldwin) death 😭
Me 😭😭😭😭
I am! I just watched the corrie scene when he dies😢. To see him being held by his nemesis, and seeing the icons of the st coming out to see Mike
Great acting from Mike. Nice lad that schmeichel lolololol
Les is a legend!
gotta love mike
No. 5 was filthy when Les and Cilla lived there.
It was cleaner when Mike lived there
It is sad! *"I know you, don't I?"* to the woman he fought with Ken Barlow over.
This was a nice scene between him and chesney
RIP my guy
Mike used to own that house, rent it out and thinks he still does, his mind went back in the past.
Rip
The former Detective Sergeant Russell in No Hiding Place in the 1960s who went on to play Corrie villain Mike Baldwin for 30 years from 1976.
He was really never a villain .. a mixture of good and bad
Jonny Brilliant actor, shame he was written out like this????? I have his autograph signed to me.
The actor chose to leave. He said he decided by flipping a coin.
Johnny was thrilled about the storyline. He didn't just want to walk into the sunset, he wanted to go out big!And he did! He had to have done his homework too! Check out *"Farewell Mike"* .
RIP actor just heared on the news who played mike baldwin JOHNNY BRIGGS has passed away
You forget what a cracking actor Mr Briggs was. Trouble with Corrie is the greats get old and die and your just left with the bland and talentless.
5.23 At least neither Deirdre or Blanche did go senile-they both died still with all their faculties.
Did Johnny Briggs have dementia in later years

Eh ? I didn't know Bradley Walsh was in this !
Couldn't he have gone into a home?

@danieltumulty he was 11 (this was in march 2006, and hes 16 now)
He's got to be about 40 now then
Am I imagining things, or does Mike appear to have rejuvenated slightly in the second clip ??
RIP 🪦 Johnny Briggs 👼🏽😢🙏✝️
Oh danny and mike are father and son as jamie called him grandad
Rip Johnny
I know Alzheimers affects people in different ways and Chesney was a child at the time, but how did Mike beat him at Draughts?

Are Mike and Danny brothers?
