I am a blind singer and trumpet player in Knoxville Tennessee, lead vocalist for Swing Booty. Thank you for this video. I love this song. Your breakdown made more sense to me than most videos. Knowing this song as well as I do helped me though. Our band does mostly jazz standards related to gypsy jazz. I was recently listening to an interview with Doc Severinsen, and was so pleased to hear him say he loved that genre as well, but even more intrigued to learn that his father was descended from French gypsies. as a backstory, degree of separation story, Cathy Leach was my trumpet professor at the University of Tennessee in 1981. I regret that I didn’t major in music because it is the biggest source of joy in my life right now, but I am happy to be able to play a little here and there. Any advice on old trumpet players, returning to the craft would be appreciated.
Thanks for breaking down your process. This is one of my favorite tunes. I’ll get to work!!
