Thank you for tips. I spent hours doing my own research a few months back and decided on Embassy Suites Miami Int’l Airport. It took a lot of effort. Solo traveling so I have a few extra things that help my decision, but airport shuttle and cruise shuttle options are very important.

Great info Prof Melissa. Enjoy your content. Miami has a lot of great hotel options for cruising. Stayed at Hampton blue lagoon and it was a great choice. Look forward to seeing your next review.

Will be going to Miami port in early December.
Arranged with the Royal Caribbean cruise ship to do transfers to & from the ship.
Was going to stay at either the MIA Airport hotel or Embassy Suites. But, went with Sheraton Airport Hotel. Will see how that goes.
Planned this out, 6 months ago.
Destinations: Perfect Day Coco Cay & Nassau...😊

Thanks for the tips. We are flying to Miami in October and sailing on Icon of the Seas. Can't wait!

Excellent video. One of the two reasons you don't prefer Virgin is actually not a problem if you are doing one of the short cruises. I am a first time cruiser and want to "try it out" with a 4 or 5 day Cruise before I commit to a longer one. I doubt if I have time to get sick of the food court area. I enjoy specialty dining, so will do that most days.

No mention of Tri-rail? They offer train service from Fort Lauderdale airport down to the Miami airport. Cost is $5.00 pp or less, depending on the day.

The doubletree isn't walking distance to miami international mall. It may say 4 miles on google but those are not walkable miles. No shade and you have to cross the 836 and the 826 expressways.

Excellent video. Wish this would have been available when we sailed out of Miami a year ago. For our experience, we flew into FLL and had a hotel shuttle to a hotel in the south FL area. From there we did a Uber XL to the port. Not cheap, but I had Uber gift cards to help pay for it.

Is there a car rental at the port? We are flying into and out of FLL and wondering if that may be better especially on the front end of the trip.
