James Grant is one of the finest singer/songwriters to come out of Glasgow in the last 30 years. I saw Love & Money at Glasgow Green many moons ago and realised how special they were.
James really understands dynamics in songs. He uses his vocal range cleverly. Plays to his strengths in the lower register where he is a rare beast alongside Mark Lanegan, Dave Gahan etc. but can go up when necessary. This leads to a varied listen across an album and interesting dynamics within songs. Only when I saw them live did I realise just how good a lead player he is. His acoustic 'flat picking' is high class too. This is no easy skill. To pick with such accuracy in the acoustic ballads he plays while singing with such control is quite something. I've seen him numerous times solo and he sits patiently in the song, drawing the listener in like few can. He writes brilliant songs which are rooted in the past but never cliched. He is a rare talent, the likes we may never see again in Scotland. He is the complete package and was so as a very young man. All that said, where he is truly world class is in his lyrics.
Thanks for that statement mate. I love everything British, Scottish and Ireland. What I don't like is imperialism and the want to rule world. Humbleness is due.
One of my all time favourite songs, strange kind of love and Dogs in the traffic are never far off the playlist. The would be my favourite Scottish band but the Blue Nile exist (well did exist)
I am shipwrecked in the night I watched a girl with eyes like thin ice Say "Dive into these pools of blue," But I tripped over you I curse these cool whispering lights I curse the things that keep me from you Again my patience makes the climb Will my tears buy me time? In your light I crumble, forgot what I'd been told I never thought that I could feel so old You're at the center of everything I do Wherever I go, I'll walk the last mile with you I heard you say, "Dissolve in my arms and run to fall in these meadows" But you're just a memory From a mocking old dream But I cling to my dreams I'm drawn to things that kill me It's safer to pretend But I'll deceive myself again I your light I crumble, forgot what I'd been told I never thought that I could feel so old You're at the center of everything I do Wherever I go, I'll walk the last mile with you I've seen the whole world turn to gold It's just like a fairground ride Sometimes it turns out That the tyrants are the pearls You'll always know, someone loves you in this world I want to burn like I burn I want to burn like I burn I wake up in the harsh light Spilled my heart in a cold night I've got too much time to kill I wrote you're name upon my wall I your light I crumble, forgot what I'd been told I never thought that I could feel so old You're at the center of everything I do Wherever I go, I'll walk the last mile with you
Super chanson dommage qui joue de la guitare comme s'il était dans son salon car Il regarde son micro et sa guitare du début à la fin. Aucun sourrire. Un genie qui ne semble pas déborder de sympathie.
Hair has gotta surely be a joke? If Donald Trump's campaign hairdresser combed his hair like that he'd be saying in his New York accent "WTF are you doing, this is a mess, get it back to my usual style". Great tune though.
Great version. Love and Money was totally underrated. Their songs and lyrics stand the test of time.

Love and money anyone? Grant is such a beautiful being. Crying now. Bless.

He's an (almost), hidden gem. Just beautiful
One of my favourite albums 👌
I met him once. He’s so kind. I lob his music. My dad love him too. James, we all love you
He still has it! His voice hasn't changed a bit, such a pleasure!
His voice even got better. I'm delighted to hear hear this in 2023, three years after. I hope this spring will find us well. All of us.
the best years for music, another splendid example as usual
Amazing songwriter, guitar player and the most important, amazing musician!!!.
Love both versions ofcourse Love & Money was a very underrated band. This version is absolutely beautiful.

This guy should be famous! Loved Love and Money and Friends Again before them, his solo albums are beautiful but still...."the world won't listen"...
Wonderful. One of the greats of Scottish music.
BRILLIANT THE MOST WONDERFUL JAMES GRANT

Great song walk the last mile
what a talent,great vocals
I am shipwrecked in the night
I watched a girl with eyes like thin ice
Say "Dive into these pools of blue,"
But I tripped over you
I curse these cool whispering lights
I curse the things that keep me from you
Again my patience makes the climb
Will my tears buy me time?
In your light I crumble, forgot what I'd been told
I never thought that I could feel so old
You're at the center of everything I do
Wherever I go, I'll walk the last mile with you
I heard you say, "Dissolve in my arms
and run to fall in these meadows"
But you're just a memory
From a mocking old dream
But I cling to my dreams
I'm drawn to things that kill me
It's safer to pretend
But I'll deceive myself again
I your light I crumble, forgot what I'd been told
I never thought that I could feel so old
You're at the center of everything I do
Wherever I go, I'll walk the last mile with you
I've seen the whole world turn to gold
It's just like a fairground ride
Sometimes it turns out
That the tyrants are the pearls
You'll always know, someone loves you in this world
I want to burn like I burn
I want to burn like I burn
I wake up in the harsh light
Spilled my heart in a cold night
I've got too much time to kill
I wrote you're name upon my wall
I your light I crumble, forgot what I'd been told
I never thought that I could feel so old
You're at the center of everything I do
Wherever I go, I'll walk the last mile with you

Snark - greatest invention ever. Oh, great song, great voice, as usual. Oh, and the Cellist - wow, beautiful lady.

Amazing version of a brilliant song. His voice has not changed at all. That hair though...

Theres love in every way. I love you Eve. You are quite something aren't you?
KING James Long May he Rule
Lovely xxx
superb version of the original a
album version very mellow and like a good whisky has aged well
The hairstyle's the BEST bit!
Very nice
The real deal
good!!!
His hair has a nice swoop.
much better than other swoops I've noticed lately
Brilliant stuff from James but his hair needs a saucer of milk.
He'd have been a massive star if he hadnt insisted on "dancing" in their videos. Great voice, great songs, danced like a man with an itchy arse
His hair looks like Trump's but he sings a lot better, though. Nice stuff!
The hair is spoils get it but otherwise xx

All time favourite albums…..also the worst hair I ve ever seen!!
I'll agree with the album assessment. The hair I'll reserve judgement as we're all getting a wee bit wild in that area the now 😊
