I thought it was cute that you kept trying to relate the music to this classic to current songs. You're adorable. This movie was a classic with one exception. Pierce Brosnan can NOT sing. The film grossed $611 million worldwide on a $52 million budget- It was a smash hit. The movie was adapted from one of the most successful musical plays of all time written by British playwright Catherine Johnson based on songs recorded by Swedish group ABBA. The title of the musical is taken from the group's 1975 chart-topper "Mamma Mia." Amanda Seyfried became a star from this movie. She should've won the Oscar. Over 65 million people have seen the show, which has grossed $4 billion worldwide including a 14-year run on Broadway, the 9th longest running show in Broadway history. The sequel was nothing but a money grab that got mixed reviews. It completely screwed up the continuity. It was terribly written. It did ok at the box office, enough for them to consider a 3rd; but, thankfully, COVID delayed it and now, hopefully, it's dead.
also Bjorn one of the members of ABBA wrote this musical in the 80s with ABBA songs
The Jonas brothers comment hurt my heart and you’re definitely older than me 😭
U should thank ABBA for the music
This seems really awesome and I love the British accents!
you should see into the woods, another meryl streep musical, also more family friendly but still serious
All song are ABBA on who s music is basted in the man on piano is a member of ABBA who co wrote the songs
