This is the recipe I need right now. I've been making the wartime xmas cake because it also makes a small cake but I want something richer. Thanks for uploading this. Happy Yuletide.

@@MysteryBaker it turned out beautifully. I heaped the spices because I love spice, added a half cup of walnuts and only baked it for three hours. The top is crispy but the next ones will be wrapped in brandy soaked muslin and topped with marzipan. Thank you for this. I truly appreciate it.

I'd love to have seen you remove it from the tin though. I would normally put a double layer of brown paper around the outside of the tin as its thicker than greaseproof paper. Nice video and I'll be trying your recipe as I don't make large cakes much any more as we're empty nesters now.

It comes out so easily. After it's been left too cool, I simply run a palette knife around the edge of the cake and turn it out on a cooling rack. Please let me know how it turns out. Also check my video out on how to feed this cake with Brandy, which just adds that extra special 'something' 😋 Happy Baking 😊 🎂

Absolutely Debbie but when you add the fruit, fold the fruit into the mixture by hand xx
