That Blue Ivy comment was the end. I’m actually glad that it crashed after that. No reason for Black woman and girls to be constantly disrespected, especially by Black people too.
106 & Park when AJ & Free hosted it was like what Soul Train was to our parents back in their day. I’m old enough to remember it from the early days, every day after my big brother and me came home from school, that was the first thing we did was watch 106 & Park every day. And at school the kids would talk about the episode and etc, even if you were middle class or poor everybody knew about Aj and Free and 106 & Park. Sometimes you’d watch it at your friends house and vice versa after they AJ & Free left it became Trash, by the time we started to watch it again to see what it was like now Bow wow had taken over. And then it was canceled, that marked the end of an Era. Kids now just don’t know
this makes me emotional. straight back to my childhood. this show endin was a sign of the decline to come in Hip Hop. as crazy as it sounds in 2022, Hip Hop was actually better when it was more corporate.
It’s still corporate. When HipHop became corporate after that secret meeting is when it started to go to shit. You can look up the secret meeting though it’s on RUclips. Imho i believe it was by design from the start. That’s them Freemason’s for ya
Even with the streaming apps, I think if they brought this back and incorporated this new way of the music industry, it would still work... we still liked the artists coming on and just vibing with the host and audience, the comedic moments, the rap battles... all of that would still hit these days... I think the HOSTS are what is most important.
No one watches tv anymore, it’s all about streaming platforms and podcast. Plus people would rather just go see a video when they went to instead of waiting for a show to only show half of the video. Too many other things nowadays to keep people from being focused on a show like this. The industry is a cesspool now and over saturated.
Big Tigga & Julissa's reign should've been longer. I loved them hosting They kept the energy going a flowing And they were the actual reason why Wild Out Wednesday became a thing.
I remember watching 106 & Park to see what AJ & Free and also see all the hot Hip-Hop and R&B artists to discover the latest fashion and trends. Man,I wish I could go back and relive all of those moments back again.
When his early music videos came out, he was number one on their countdown for monthS. JD even put that lyric, _"Mr. 106 and park is back."_ on one of Bow Wow's singles that had a video. MTV had to censor it when that video appeared on TRL and other instances on their network.
That was my show. When that show ended, I was done with BET. They had got rid of all those video shows to show reruns of old Judge Hatchett shows and playing Baby Boy a thousand times a week 😒👎🏿
@@mr.russell5395 I know right they played baby boy and soul plane so much you just about knew every scene word for word and dont forget madeas family reunion and diary of mad black woman
I remember watching this well before my teen years aj and free will always be 106 & park to me. When I watched it again with Terrance and roxie it just wasn't 106 anymore
this show ending, WAS the end of real Hip Hop culture. true music videos dont even exist no more. it’ll just be Top 10 of the same soundin trap/drill noise. real Rap based shows like 106&Park/Rap City cant exist nowadays
While I respect 106 and Park, I really can't relate. My ish was Rap City, Yo MTV Raps, Planet Groove, Video Soul, Caribbean Rythm, and even Head Bangers Ball. However, if be remiss if I told you that I don't feel a lil nostalgia having seen this video. Just that time period alone invokes feelings of melancholy when I think back to those times. Good video.
Rocsi and Terrence get a bad rep sometimes...they did a good job with the show and you can't dismiss their Era. The show failed in the long run because BET didn't know what to do with it anymore. The constant changing of the format and hosts didn't help either. Bow I'm convinced in some way wanted it to be l about him and didn't want a co host and as popular as bow was...no one checking for a bow wow led show in the early 2010s. It was just a changing of times. If they did bring it back it would have to just be a late night show with no countdown.
I miss 106 and park.that was my show.and free and aj was a cool duo.and my favorite was freestyle friday.i had recorded a lot of 106 and park show on my 📼 vhs.word up son
after AJ & Free the show lost a lot of culture for real, it just became white washed but that may have been when Robert Johnson sold the company to Viacom. Love these video breakdowns!! 💯💯💯
Man I remember recording all the new music videos on vhs! Only thing I hated is sometimes they'd play just 1 minute of a song lol.. there's nothing comparable nowadays
I started watching at the the start of the Rocsi and Terrence era and it always kept me in the loop especially being homeschooled and after they left it was never the same again.
I love Free! I used to watch the show just to see her in a dope outfit. She really could dress. Growing up I wouldn’t miss 106&Park. I loved “Freestyle Friday”.
Yeah I will still remember Aaliyah's last appearance on 106. Rewatching that interview and her mentioning that she was leaving to shoot the Rock the Boat is sad.
Dammit so much memories... It's getting hot in here!!! My husband and I had just started dating when 106 & park first aired. We were still in college and we would meet with all our friends before going to the cafeteria just to watch the interviewers. Our kids now are 16 and 14. Darn I'm getting old 😪 😩 😕
I remember citas world, hits from the street, rap city , 106 n park , a movie a come on at 8, then comic view at 10pm , bet news, another movie then bet uncut
😃 Girrrrl, you taking me back to my college-dorm days. 🥰 “Cita’s World” was a funny animated show. I remember the host jokingly saying, “The rent must really be due,” after reporting that a well-known rapper was doing some underground show for a measly wage. I can’t remember the rapper nor the venue, but I remember her saying what I quoted. I never forgot that line and started to occasionally use it myself (though not maliciously). 😂🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
😠 And I hated BET Uncut. They replaced “Midnight Love” with that crap. 🙄 To me, it was like replacing music that made brothers and sisters fall in love with foolishness that made ‘em fall in lust. They traded suga for 💩. 😒
I remember vividly rushing home to watch this show, excited. I was in 6th grade when the first episode came on. I used to call and vote for the video I wanted to see😂. . 106 was a huge part of my love for music. It was never the same after AJ & Free. I can't remember when I stopped watching but I was in high school by then.
Thanks for the nostalgia... This was enjoyable to watch! Also PLEASE have Ms. LaJoye to host and narrate more because of her energy and non-monotonic voice!
I miss those days so much 😢. 106th & Park with AJ and Free and Donnie Simpson on Video Soul were the beginning and ending of BET literally! And lets not forget Teen Summit and also that girl Rachel who hosted that show with the Reggae videos! After 106th & Park went off I never watched BET again accept for the BET awards and a movie here and there. After that I also noticed that both music videos and the music industry changed to where they ushered in more “non-black women”. So everything went down hill for me. Uggh how I hated Roxi on the show 😒. I didn’t like Julissa either. But anyway.
I believe that too. It looked way too real. Terence was so rude throughout the show - even mocking her that she couldn’t read the script properly. I heard it was because Terence actually tried to holla Rocsi and she rejected him. Hence, he got salty.
I can remember when 106 n park first premiered!! It was so interesting cool and all that. On that show is when I found out who jill Scott was. I heard her and saw her performance. The first chance I got I went and bought her first cd!! It would be nice have another show like that!! 😎
TBH,...this is one of the most interesting topics I've engaged in on RUclips. No arguing, no cussing, just bringing back better childhood memories. TY ☺😊... #90sbaby
I think there's definitely a lane for some sort of similar platform out here. You just need the right talent for the hosts and the right chemistry between them. Add the right wardrobe for the hosts, and the right musical talent promoted being promoted on the show, and it'll be an instant hit, because it's needed now for the culture.
So we’re just going throw the legacy of Video Soul out the window. Video Soul was on BET way before 106 & Park and Donnie Simpson interviewed all the artists from that era. Oh yeah….this was before TRL as well.
Always wondered why the show ended. Last I heard about the show was when bow wow stole and used the company credit card. Don't know if it was true or not?
BET only started to air in 2014 in South Africa about 2 weeks before 106&Park was axed. So I'm upset that I never got a chance to watch 106&park when A.J and Free was at the show
That show even if they tried to make a comeback it wouldnt be the same. Them times where so great !!!! Man i loved to come home do homework then watch 106. I read somewhere that aj is being accused of sexual assualt. I hear they were in talks of rebooting the show but with the power of social media and these allegations. 106 wouldnt be the same. N man when bow wow came on. You knew it was over. But we need shows like 106 and trl n rap city.
Does any one else get nostalgia watching this and get emotional… I’m 33 I was 14-16 watching this after high school .. seeing who had the number one video ment alot .. and fridays the freestyles battle was dope … seeing Eminem here also ment a lot … omg I miss these days before the Internet took over 😢
BET needs to relaunch some of there old shows. I would totally watch it. My tops were “midnight love”, “106”, “Rap City” and “Hits from the streets”. Anyone remember when Hits was at a college campus, met some girls with hairstyles and goes to each girl: “up-do, up-do, up-do” and the one without one “Do-do”😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I laughed for daysssss. I love hits, he needs to come back.
Long Live 106 & Park🥲💐.. I wish I could bring it back maybe I will…cuz I Miss the Energy, the Vibes & the little Countdown .. My Favorite Episode of all Time was the Chris Brown 1one it was wholesome, funny and Dope 💯❤🔥
I miss 106 & Park. It's the TRL for the black audience. I dare say it's better than TRL, depending on the type of music you're into. Plus, IMO, AJ & Free are better hosts than Carson Daly.
@@larrymarshall8900 Once RUclips hit and artist like Soulja Boy began to upload their music videos on RUclips. It was basically over for these type of shows with music video countdown. The rise of Vevo....
Loved their chemistry, and 106 was better than TRL as Hip Hop surpassed alt rock and pop as the main genre. Even though it didn't always showcase live dancing, it was like the modern version of soul train as far as impact
Before there was TRL and 106&Park, BET had Video Soul and Teen Summit which could not be touched, this was back when the B in BET stood for black ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽
Man I remember watching this after school. I loved the music and the entertainment. I love how on the tv show The Game, they brought in Free as a guest Star.
Back in the day, AJ and Free were honestly more impactful and more inspirational, than the artists that they were interviewing! That’s what made 106 and park stand apart from TRL to me. On 106 and park it seemed like seeing them every day was more impactful to me and the young kids around me than any artist that could’ve came on the show for one day! We got to watch free every single day become a style icon for me, and every little black girl that I knew growing up! That blonde Afro!!!! Free was the girl who I saw the turn in of people, not necessarily all wanting to be celebrities, and people not wanting to go into just music, or being the girl in the video and wanting to be the people behind the mic. It was Free, Angie Martinez And La La Anthony that made the difference! AJ was the coolest black man on tv! His hair was ICONIC and he had swagger of an R&B singer and the skills of a 60 minutes interviewer
I watched 106 & Park faithfully from AJ & Free to Bow Wow hosting it. Gotta say the time period from AJ & Free and Terrence & Rocsi were the best times to watch it. When Bow started hosting it I missed more episodes than I ever have except for freestyle fridays.
The last time I've heard about 106 & Park was the reunion and when Blind Fury was destroying the Free Stylers and 106 & Park had a stage on Def Jam ICON that was it.
106 and Park kept a lot of kids in my generation out of the streets after school alot of us didn’t miss an episode.

Kids now just don’t know
Xactly
On the hood, Free got me through puberty in the best ways. 😂
💀💀🤣🤣
BRO 😂😂😂😂
Free is thick & bad though 💯
Shit Me Too
FACTZ I still got the King Mag somewhere at my old house
No lies!!!
It’d be dope to see a documentary on 106 & Park or just the peak time of BET, MTV, VH1 and music based TV
this makes me emotional. straight back to my childhood. this show endin was a sign of the decline to come in Hip Hop. as crazy as it sounds in 2022, Hip Hop was actually better when it was more corporate.
It’s still corporate. When HipHop became corporate after that secret meeting is when it started to go to shit. You can look up the secret meeting though it’s on RUclips. Imho i believe it was by design from the start. That’s them Freemason’s for ya
That’s how the genre used to move but now it’s everywhere.
AJ & Free were in fact The 106 & Park 💯
Excellent video, y'all sparked up old memories with this one andmade me miss freestyle Fridays all over again.. great job
Big Tigga & Julissa's reign should've been longer. I loved them hosting
They kept the energy going a flowing
And they were the actual reason why Wild Out Wednesday became a thing.
Sad to see what happen to AJ career, he was good at 106 and Extra.
He was a host for Extra for about 14 years. He made money.
He did it to himself
Always said once he cut the dreads it was a wrap lol
I remember watching 106 & Park to see what AJ & Free and also see all the hot Hip-Hop and R&B artists to discover the latest fashion and trends. Man,I wish I could go back and relive all of those moments back again.
Free & AJ also appeared briefly in the movie, “Drumline!”
Legendary
106 & Park was the teen version of many MTV shows that showcased black music, artists and videos which we all loved. I missed that era.
This is what made Hip Hop so dope was its scarcity. Free and Aj will always be a staple of Hip Hop.
Bow Wow being labeled “Mr. 106 & Park” 😂😂
And the fact he use to throw that out in every interview for years. 😒🙄🤣 okay Bow Wow.
When his early music videos came out, he was number one on their countdown for monthS. JD even put that lyric, _"Mr. 106 and park is back."_ on one of Bow Wow's singles that had a video. MTV had to censor it when that video appeared on TRL and other instances on their network.
his first 2 albums when he even got Snoop to perform with him was the joint
He was
For My Generation he was IDC 💯😎
Don't forget hits from the streets. Moo psi moo milk it milk it milk it 🤣🤣🤣 #classic
Oh shoot I forgot about him! 🤣🤣
Yo! 😆 🤣 😂
@@mr.russell5395 It seemed like every week Baby Boy was shown.
I remember watching this well before my teen years aj and free will always be 106 & park to me. When I watched it again with Terrance and roxie it just wasn't 106 anymore
I never missed an episode when free and Aj hosted im 31 now and this show is so nostalgic it was the trl for us black kids
this show ending, WAS the end of real Hip Hop culture. true music videos dont even exist no more. it’ll just be Top 10 of the same soundin trap/drill noise. real Rap based shows like 106&Park/Rap City cant exist nowadays
Bring Back BET Uncut 😁💯💯
Lol noooooo.
@@thetruesoulofanaquarius9302 LOL Hell Yeahhhhhh
As they should
@@tisha5414 I know right 😄👍🏽
Yup at 3am
This was nostalgic! Loved Free and AJ together. Before there was 106 there was Teen Summit!
Teen Summit was a terrific show.
I'm so happy I was able to be in the audience a few times as a teen. Such good memories
They should bring back these shows. I miss 106 & Park. I made it through my high school years with this show.
They deserve that reputation
@Dewayne Junior freestyle battles made ya tune in
@Dewayne Junior towards the end there was. And that' was theonly day I watched it.
@Dewayne Junior then don't add urs
@Dewayne Junior 🤣
We need a video memorializing and remembering Teddy Ray ASAP. 🙏🙏🙏
Oh, I never watched that show. It seemed to staged, scripted and boring.
106 & park with Free and AJ is a BET Classic Freestyle Friday was Poppin !!! miss the early 2000s 💯
Seeing there faces brings me right back to a certain moment in time, they were my childhood fasho!
106 And Park:this was the go to show to watch after school in the 00s….After Free And A.J. left, 106 And Park went down the drain….
The Wendy snippet bought back so many memories. Those were wild times. Another great video. Thank you. 👍🏽
I was young when this came out, but I was in college…I remember the pioneers like Video Soul with Donnie Simpson and Teen Summit on BET too…
I started watching at the the start of the Rocsi and Terrence era and it always kept me in the loop especially being homeschooled and after they left it was never the same again.
“Cita’s World” was a funny animated show.
106 and Park was the ish back in the day..classic 😉
As he watched her walk out the door, Steven knew Free was the one.
106 & Park was the best show for our culture period. I lived for Free and Aj!! Tuned in everyday for the Countdown, rap battles, surprise guest hosts!
This generation needs something like this now .. A lot of artist today don’t get exposure like you would think .. I miss being 13 watching 106
@Black Mamba 4 Life as long as you know
Me too
I remember vividly rushing home to watch this show, excited.
Here for it. I love these uploads
But anyway.
That Terrance and Rocsi walk-off was REAL! Rocsi was about to cry and Terrance was trashing her (HILARIOUS 😂)
I believe that too. It looked way too real. Terence was so rude throughout the show - even mocking her that she couldn’t read the script properly. I heard it was because Terence actually tried to holla Rocsi and she rejected him. Hence, he got salty.
@@LuvHuni I did hear that too
Yeah they just said it was fake to save face. We all knew that shit was real!
@@LuvHuni i thought it was cuhh he hit n wanted more but she ain't want nothing to do wit him either way it was embarrassing n unprofessional
i worked for the show....it was fake
😂😂 waaaaat🤔🤔
@@Cinncakes88 news that I heard. Google it.
Does any one else get nostalgia watching this and get emotional… I’m 33 I was 14-16 watching this after high school .. seeing who had the number one video ment alot .. and fridays the freestyles battle was dope … seeing Eminem here also ment a lot … omg I miss these days before the Internet took over 😢
I was a contestant on freestyle Friday and I loss to sincere the great My whole life changed for the better. Free was still the host !
BET did AJ and Free dirty 🤦🏾♂️
Long Live 106 & Park🥲💐.. I wish I could bring it back maybe I will…cuz I Miss the Energy, the Vibes & the little Countdown .. My Favorite Episode of all Time was the Chris Brown 1one it was wholesome, funny and Dope 💯❤🔥
Can You Cover Why MTV2 Made a Friday cartoon without the late John Witherspoon who was doing The Boondocks at Adult Swim
I miss 106 & Park. It's the TRL for the black audience.
I dare say it's better than TRL, depending on the type of music you're into.
Plus, IMO, AJ & Free are better hosts than Carson Daly.
True it was the black TRL for black folks but social media killed the show damn social media.
@@larrymarshall8900 Once RUclips hit and artist like Soulja Boy began to upload their music videos on RUclips. It was basically over for these type of shows with music video countdown. The rise of Vevo....
Bring back 106 and Park please!!!!
This was a great platform for artists. It would be dope if they found a way to reboot the series.
106 & park was literally my childhood. Show was dope
I remember my bff and I used to love 106 & park
Y’all just gave my 34 y.o ass a nostalgic heart attack when I seen Free & A.J on the thumbnail. I miss my childhood soooo much 😩😩✨
This was my favorite video show back then. The nostalgia from just looking at this video
The last time I've heard about 106 & Park was the reunion and when Blind Fury was destroying the Free Stylers and 106 & Park had a stage on Def Jam ICON that was it.
