  • As one of the best preserved medieval towns in Tuscany, San Gimignano is considered a “Medieval Manhattan” with its medieval skyline of towers dominating the Tuscan countryside.
This “City of Towers” is absolutely one of the best must-see towns in Tuscany and definitely should not be missed. You can plan this town together with Florence and Siena.
On Piazza del Duomo stands the town's Romanesque cathedral. Sienese Gothic art from the 14th century lines the nave with parallel themes - Old Testament on the left and New Testament on the right. This is a classic use of art to teach. Many scenes are portrayed with a 14th-century "slice of life" setting to help townspeople relate to Jesus.
Nearby is a pair of towers that have stood side by side for more than 700 years.
