Monster Hunter: World - The n00b vs. Catching first live monster (Kulu-Ya-Ku)

Well, since this is a new game and I am new with the series, do not expect much but laughing on my blunders ;)

So it is a quest to catch it alive, right? How did you make this "thunder-trap" thing? BTW your cat has a nice hat ;)
Say would it be possible to catch an ride those?

You can either craft it from Trap Tool and Thunder Bug or you can simply pick it up in chest near tent whenever you start catch quest. Every catch quest comes with 1 free shock trap and 8 tranq bombs.
No, you can't ride them. Only one that can ride some enemies is Palico.
