  • Well, since this is a new game and I am new with the series, do not expect much but laughing on my blunders ;)
Feel free to give me pointers if I am doing something wrong though

Are you going to do a review on MHW? Something similar as Shadwen? I'm not liking it at all. I've only played 16 hours on XB1, but there are already too many things I'm not pleased with.

I really like it, but there are tons of things I hate
Let me guess the most annoying one. Game breaking previously long held title for most anal annoying disturbance to melee players held by Oblivion... constantly hammering to repair the weapons. Well, MH finally beat that and it invented even more anal way of annoying me. At least in Oblivion you could kill rat without your weapon breaking, in MH... nope.
Second really annoying thing is not really open game from beginning. You're stuck in a bad JRPG limbo of developers making game harder by artificially making it impossible to be underequipped constantly. Dogma does such awesome work here
I plan on doing something like Shadwen it will be and something more I hope. But, that requires me knowing game a bit better

The weapon degradation isn't too bothersome for me, I kinda like the reality aspect of it. But, yeah, not being able to do some damage at least is unrealistic.
There is a long "tutorial" with a lot of hand holding and cutscenes that does get annoying.
My biggest thing is the game as a genre. It is very Japanese, it is very grindy, and this game, similar to many Japanese games, is too 'cutesy'. A cute little cat, bright colors, your sidekick talks to you like you are 3, and learning your colors and shapes. I really hate that Handler girl, whatever her name is. The Armor is hideous, the weapons are impractical looking.
Second biggest thing for me is, I never feel that connection with the combat, I don't feel that ooompf! I feel like I am swinging at a holographic dinosaur.
I don't think I can continue. It's been slow at work this week, and we have XB1 there in the office, so that's what I've been doing 4 hours a day this week. I'd rather be working.
I've spent probably 4 hours playing with each weapon. I like the bow alright, the Double Daggers are probably my favorite. But, I think Dogma has spoiled me.

I think you haven't come far enough to see the weapon degradation. In Rotten Vale your weapon is practically broken fighting 4 small lizards. In starting levels, weapon even in orange deals some damage. In Rotten Vale it can bounce off with 0 damage at yellow already and I have weapons with highest available sharpness to me at this point
In the time that any big enemy escapes after some damage I have to repair weapons twice.

It was posted quite a while ago.
I decided on scrapping quite a lot I had ready to post. Posting new ones today, but I added G+ and Twitter for that exact reason

I went to the training yard and tried many weapons. The one I am now comfortable with is Proto Iron Axe (Switch Axe). But what I really do not understand is that you cannot equip daggers for short range. Axe is heavy but despite all I tested the attacks are relatively fast and you can activate a fireattack.

You do equip dagger, but it is used for gathering and when climbing. It does 1 damage ;)

Now imagine if Dragon's Dogma had monsters that worked like this.

Yep, that would be dream come true. Combat wise DD is light years ahead of MH. And there is a truth that once you pass the environments and monsters that were part of MH demo, quality drops significantly. I kind of felt like someone stole all my toys as soon as I left the desert for completely pointless boss fight and reach Coral environment.
And there is a fun factor. DD never feels such slug fest as MH due to much better combat. This game is a nice break, but it is far from as fun as Dogma which I will be returning to after it

So there are two disappointments, Nier and MH whereas Nier is the bigger disappointment IMAHO.

      They are not disappointing ;)
They just don't reach Dogma for me. MH is tons of fun and Nier I am having a blast when it lets me play the 3rd person with free camera
Thinking now, my comment could be misunderstood. Anjanath is god damn epic and so are the wyverns (unless you damage them too much to the point where they start glitching left and right where whole your problem is 10m span between the legs which constitute as one big collision box. That kind of quality would be hard to keep, but the drop is quite deep later

In your video above you are mentioning Wyvernblast and Spreadshots. Are you crafting these and place them?

No, you have infinite amount of those.
Lower right you can see 3 orange big bullets. Once you use some, they regenerate in a certain time. Just look icons and you will see the pattern
