    hands down one of the best fishing vids on YT. That was perfect, always wanted to go smelting, I live in Southern Maine, now I will definitely give it a shot. Thanks so much.

    I know this spot very well for striped bass fishing in the spring, and I'm definitely going to go give this area a shot for the same thing. Good video.

    you earned yourself a new subscriber. its very hard to find people who go into so much depth as you did in part 1, and you even fish in the same state as I. keep up the good work, love the vids, cant wait for more.

    I used to fish for smelt with my Dad and a lot of old timers 45 years ago when I was a kid, (Milton Marina area) most of the places I fished have been developed/dredged out.. I remember filling 5 gallon buckets on a good night. I've always wanted to try it again but don't know of any spots worth trying, I'm closer to Rhode Island these days, I may have to scout out some new spots... Nice Vids, glad to see you educating folks on this fishery...

    Hi. Love the video. Great and informative. When is the best time to try to net some baits? And also when is best to try for smelts? I live in Ct. Do you think the locations as long as it’s similar marshy type water will hold baits and smelts in Ct or is it just in mass? Thanks for any suggestions.

      I don't think there are any smelt down your way. Just in mass and northwards. You can still catch the same baits though. To get the shrimp and mud minnows I prefer out going tide or low tide. Time of day doesn't seem to matter.

      Ok. That is what I thought. I never seen or heard of smelts being caught. Will try getting baits though. Thanks

    Great video! Are there specific tides and depths that you've found better for smelt being around and hungry?

    • @davedeefishing
      @davedeefishing  Год назад +1

      About an hour after the start of incoming in 15ft seems to be the sweet spot now. Once the tide goes slack the bite has been stopping.
