The world is all about give and take. One of the key principles of economics are trade offs. Each action you take will have an opposing reaction. If we penalize refs for making an honest mistake on the job we will get a response of refs being more strict with their whistles and we are already complaining about how often fouls are called but that would only get worse. Another possible outcome would be refs quitting due to toxic work conditions which would force the NBA to raise the pay (it’s hard to replace good refs just ask the NFL) as an incentive to stay. That money would come from players, fans, owners and coaches which would make the point of ref fines irrelevant. This concept is the same one that’s proposed for officers who make unwilling mistakes on the job which as we know from different cases and statutes isn’t upheld by law.

"on an easy call" lillard is right. thats the worst part of it. it wasnt even difficult to see. nba needs tv head ref for these decisions. especially or at least in the crunchtimes. its used in many sports, why not nba? the system is flawed for the flavor of the "shutup n play".
