Exactly you dint know almost till the end of the movie that you root for someone like Moeen or maybe he will backstab at some stage, it was so beautifully written and a very important character in the movie
She's absolutely right with Vijay Raaz's character. It was very important for him to SEE him on that stage and realize it IS possible. Without this arc the movie would be empty at some level.

Also, it didn't quite put the light over the relationship of murad-safeena at the end, they got married? They told their parents? There was no growth on their part as compared to beginning and end. It was very much unclear!

Everything is good about the movie but I have just one question is it necessary to put that "taaviz" necklace to go with ranveers character just to show him as a Muslim guy.... I think people stereotype Muslim by that taaviz and kurta and surma you still be Muslim without those things....movie would still work without them
It is also okay to show that even people who wear topi, taviz and surma can have that talent hidden in them and a Safeena may want to wear lipstick, makeup and hang out with her male friends and not be made to feel guilty. Personal choice.

How can Zoya Akhtar show Murad's dad in bad light for second marriage, when her own dad Javed Akhter has done the same thing in real life ! The girl who played Ranveer's mother looked like his younger sister actually ! Couldn't they find a suitable aged women for the mother's character ?? When Murad called her Ammi, I could hear so many surprising voices in the hall while I was watching the movie here in Dubai. "Ammi...??" Muslims never do wazoo (ablution) from still water! How can they show the people doing wazoo in the mosque with still water ?? There is running water from taps , etc which is required for wazoo before offering Namaz. Recently there's a trend of showing the disclaimer that " violence against women is a crime", etc. What about violence against men?? Is it allowed ?? Lastly, why do girls take it as an insult if they are asked about cooking skills? Cooking is like any other skill or talent! Why feel so insecure??

If a women fails to know how to cook she isn't regarded as a"" wife-material"". Zoya Akhtar has done an incredible job in highlighting this issue. In an scene a mother tells Safeena's parents that her son is going abroad and won't be able to manage and asks her to cook for him to which she replies that she can perform a liver transplant surgery more efficiently. Here the mother wasn't interested in finding a wife for her son but a cook. So you see that, learning how to cook for a woman should be a choice not a necessity for her to find a life partner. It's not insecurity but the truth. So next time such misogynistic thoughts come to your mind, start thinking like a women and understand the issues a women face in her everyday life for being herself,.

His character is loosely based on Naezy. Who sometimes wears kajal, skull cap etc. There's nothing wrong showing that he follows his religion
