- Each year, Nepal needs close to a million tons of Chemical Fertilizer for the agriculture season. Like many other things, Nepal does not produce Chemical Fertilizer. What we see is a case of extreme mismanagement and corruption where either farmer receive very less fertilizer or have to depend on illegally imported ones at a very high cost. But why is there such a big negligence in such a sensitive sector and what's the actual reason behind it?

I come from a family of farmers and love farming myself but it hurts too bad realizing that I can't do farming for my living. Here, from the local level only those who're close with muncipality officers and have reach will get the subsidies not all and the worst issue is the market for products itself. I'm worries how how farmer will run their lives and gives education to their child with the rising inflation but farm producst don't see rise in price. Thanks so much for this video, Always good to watch you Sir.

Honestly, young people who are in the fence whether bahira jaum ki najaum vanera, they get a little bit of affirmation. And i know yo videos ko motive tyo haina, education and awareness ho, the actual problems are deeply rooted in the country's politics and policies. Jata farke pani nidhar maa haat rakhnu parne chha. If we use traditional seed, not the one that are freely distributed by governments, we can use manures from household and uphold the demand fertiliser needs of the soil. Period. Many of the traditional seed can be found in remote areas plus government seed banks.

Without improving traditional seed our productivity will drastically decrease we can conserve them but can't use them commercially until improved by breeding.

Around 10 years ago, when I study in School, teacher taught us that Nepal is agricultural country that lots of economy depends on it💝. At that time, nearly 70% people engage on agriculture directly or indirectly💖 but its decreasing rapidly.

I have recently completed my research on effect of a commercial biofertilizer in rice but the soil has been so deteriotated that chemical fertilizers are the only option for good production now and I felt no alternative could meet that productivity. So chemical fertilizers has to be the priority at present but besides that alternatives should be used at an increasing rate to restore soil's quality.

Researcher Bishwa Rai ji, why do you think natural gas is required for the chemical fertilizer production? As the narrator mentions, it is for energy, but no! It is used as the source of hydrogen to produce ammonia (NH3).
In Nepal, where we have hydroelectricity and plenty of water (H2O), this can be done cheaply (theoretically). If the electricity is subsidized for such factories, it can be made even cheaper.
You got this part completely wrong.
Need more such fact based logical videos so that youth can understand truth about agriculture sector.
I heard those fertilisers brought in before were such that farmers had to use them even for another plantation. And though they made the price really low in the beginning, they raised the price really high up in next time. And the land was already contaminated by such fertiliser and no other fertiliser would do any work. I don’t know the source but that was sad. Why there is always corruption in Nepal in almost every field? 😢why some people don’t love their country?
We were taught Ammonia gas preparation in grade 9, and now I realize why this nonsense gas was taught with the priority, after watching this video. 😁😁😁
Most of what we were taught actually is very important, our teachers never explained the story behind it and how it affects our life today.

By incorporating Azolla into rice fields, farmers can take advantage of its nitrogen-fixing capabilities, which reduce the need for synthetic fertilizers while providing a natural source of nitrogen for rice plants. Additionally, Azolla enriches the soil with organic matter, improves soil structure, and supports beneficial microbial activity. Its dense mat on the water surface acts as a natural mulch, conserving soil moisture and suppressing weed growth. Azolla also exhibits allelopathic properties, contributing to pest control and reducing the reliance on chemical pesticides. Moreover, Azolla has the potential to mitigate climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide and reducing methane emissions associated with rice cultivation. Overall, integrating Azolla into rice cultivation promotes sustainability, productivity, and environmental stewardship in rice farming systems.
