As a doctor, i can say that most of the contents of the video hold true. In past, health was a service but at present it has turned a business and medical mafias are looting general people and patients blame doctors, nurses and medical staff for this. We doctors, nurses and medical staff are underpaid and exploited by hospital administration. Having long duty hours(upto 36 hours sometimes)and sometimes on alternate days, paid less, rise in violence against doctors, have to study for along time ( mbbs, masters, then superspecialization) which may take upto 20 years after +2 and after that no great career ahead. So, doctors and even nurses are leaving the country for better future. We dont want to leave our parents and country ang go aboard. But instead of improving our health care system, our leaders are involved in corruption. At present we have enough registered doctor in our country, but from 2025, the number of doctors going abroad will increase that we produce and then there will be scarcity of doctors and nurses in our country again. Talkig about DDA, it has limited power and manpower to strictly regulate the pharmaceutical industry in Nepal.

Being a doctor myself, I agree nearly 100% with your video and desperately want this video to be trending number 1 for months so that every nepali know the brutal reality of today's healthcare system in Nepal.
Here are few more brutal truths if you can digest.
We doctors and health workers are still to be paid for our work during COVID. I myself was infected twice with COVID while working at frontline but never got a rupee of covid allowance promised by the government.
Still talking about today, I am yet to be get my pending salary of months and surviving from my family income, whereas hospital administration has enough money to provide money to ambulance drivers to get patients. General public saying "doctors in private hospitals are looting patients is like saying teachers in private schools are looting students". It is the hospital administration and big medical mafias who are getting fatter.
We as a doctor are paid mere Rs 30-40 thousands in private hospitals, which barely meets our living expenses, rent in Kathmandu. The administration forces to send unnecessary investigations and treatment, otherwise you will get replaced. So, either you work honestly and go broke and live a miserable life; or you save your job by charging unnecessary investigations and medicine.
Many doctors take multiple jobs from morning to night without private time just to sustain their expenses.
Not to mention about the violence and risk we experience every day outside the valley. Doctors were threatened and even beaten by mobs in Jumla, Gorkha hospital, Inaruwa hospital, Nuwakot hospitals, Bheri hospital in Nepalgunj to name afew, last year because of administration fault. Even, a senior orthopedics doctor last year was beaten by a police just because he was going home from his long hectic duty and it happens to be same time during mahamahim president motorcade.
I spend a decade of my life and lakhs of money studying medicine, but with my current salary in Nepal which is rupees 40 thousands, I even cannot pay the interest of my student loans, forget about savings. I cannot afford the treatment in the same private hospital I work, with the salary i get from that hospital. I myself am not able to support my family. I get really frustated that all my hard work, efforts, youth time I have spent studying that will never come back, and millions of rupees all have gone in vain. So I am planning to go abroad just to earn a decent income. Had there been good salary and social security, no doctors would want to live their family and country.
But this is not only my story. It is the same story of all junior doctors, nurses and other health workers that they have realized their hard work means nothing in this corrupt Nepalese healthcare system. Just look at the data, every year thousands of doctors and nurses apply for abroad. in this way, in few years there wont be human resource doctor, nurses available in Nepal.
What i disagree with this youtube video; there is no solution to this problem because those Ministers, leaders and officials who are sitting in Power themselves have billions of black money investment in private healthcare. They will not reform the healthcare, otherwise they will get in loss of billions of rupees.

Good that this thing is actually discussed here. I visited Nepal last year and was pretty sick. I decided to go to the emergency ward of vayodhya hospital. Well, as soon as i stepped in all the healthcare professionals such as nurses, doctors were very concerned and seem to be good at what they do until and unless after some time they forced me to do go under a surgery. I was literally SHOCKED!!! The pain or the problem that i was facing was in a completely different place and the surgery they forced me to do was in a completely different place. This was the time i was very doubtful and I completely denied going under the surgery. I said I dont want to do surgery and they threatened that they wont discharge me if I dont do the surgery. So, personally I was a Nursing student then so I was aware of some of these things and also the patient rights. As a patient (though i am sick or in a critical condition) if I am able to speak and I decide that I dont want further care or surgery then they have to respect my personal decision and not force me. And regarding the surgery case it was nothing alarming but they made it seem to be very alarming in that particular time. After denying for 3 times the same doctor came to me and said that I should trust him and his collegues qualifications and experiences and they are best surgeons and bla bla bla.. and i can watch their youtube videos... However, I then understood that its their business. The same doc insisted my mom aswell but she just said that she cannot take the decision on my behalf which was the best thing she did :) So yeah, I sticked into my decision (No surgery) then the other doctor came and prescribed me some pain relief meds and discharged me. After 2 days i returned back to abroad where I was studying nursing i went for the checkup with the special doctor and did some ultrasounds the doctor said there is nothing to worry about and I never needed any surgery. So then I was sure that it was all about money business. I sometimes wonder what if there was somebody who was illeterate or then someone educated but very naive, they would have listened to that doctor and went under surgery and paid whatever amount they wanted them to pay. So sick!!! After this incident I definitely have some trust issues.

Very true. I am a doctor from Nepal working abroad. I even got a full scholarship in NAMS for my residency but I choosed abroad. There are reasons related to my experience:
    1. While working in pvt hospital, I earned 30k a month and even for that I had to ask multiple times for my salary and evry time my salary was delayed. Additionally, there were pressures from management for unnecessary investigations and admissions.
    2. While working in government hospital- During Covid it was drs and nurses who gave their eth but the allownace at the end was just provided to administrative staffs. On the top of that, all the facilities were enjoyed by them but a doctor who had to work day and night, doesn't even get a decent chair or room required for treatment.
    3. In medical school, it was all about money. No rights to speak and too toxic culture.
I would really love to come back Nepal but I don't think it would be possible in my lifetime to make a decent living in Nepal by being a good doctor. So, doctors only have 3 options:
    1. Be a really corrupt and unethical one.
    2. Be a good one but broke, and miserable with no decent quality of life.
    3. Move abroad.
    I choosed the 3rd one...

That’s why I wrote in a patients bed that Health care shouldn’t be a business. I don’t think they will see it and even if they see also, they probably won’t care.
