This verson is so much the better for each artist putting their own individuality on it. There are enough note perfect covers out there as it is.
I could quite happily listen to the original alongside this.
I went to college with this drummer. What a trip!
Respect.Any man who can play Bach AND Rush.. AWESOME.
Wow, Great.....I love this song.
What a great version interpretation of a great song.
I...really like this. And the crazy guitar is...just great.
Nothing wrong with the guitarist here, hes just enjoying himself, and freakin out on the guitar:p
i love it
i like the thump in the solo that was awesome
The Jazz pickups are singlecoils, while his are humbuckers. They are essentially two singlecoils wired together in reverse polarity and have a fuller, rounder sound.
Wow! This is amazing!
Nice job - Geddy would be proud!
GREAT!
That is so awesome man. Thanks for posting.
WHAT A PERFORMENCE . 5/5 mate.
agreed, amazing
When I heard the guitar I was like "Wtf, I heard this guy before..." Then I saw it was Mattias... AWESOME TO HEAR MORE OF HIM! :D. Props on the cover aswell!
He'd be jealous if he wasn't so humble. That's what makes a good musician really good. When you can still talk on the same level as another musician regardless of skill.
amazing job well done I love those ritter basses
this is so wonderful. everything is so great for its own reason!
Fantastic playing, man!
Yes.
Nailed it. Yes you did.
Wow! Mattias Eklundh!
Dude this is crazy! nj!
Geddy Lee rules!!!
Hey Martin, I love this version, can you please re-record this on HD? I know you are very busy with the tour but when you find the chance I would appreciate the effort, love the new album by the way
I argee but the pinch harmonics where insane
Este loco es un idolo, muy linda composición un sonido muy pulcro. That bass sounds beautiful.
Mattias is clearly turned all the way to ELEVEN. Sheesh! Dayum good bass playing, though, and Ritter--oh my God. WHAT AN INSTRUMENT! Thank you, Herr Ritter!
You make it look to easy! ;D
The harmonics at 2:20 get me everytime. Haha
Ya gotta love Rush... I enjoyed your video... Would be interested in seeing/hearing your take on "The Red Barchetta" ... 5 stars
LOL that guitarist is nuts!
Great! Amazing! Yeah, that tapping near 2:22 was unbelievable!
Awesome version guys. Doodles in between are great. That crazy guitar is also a bit insane. I LIKE IT
dam that sounded fucking awesome
Those solos were boss but i think i like the original ones better. This guy is nuts-o good!
Nice technique!
@catchyossarian Treally..it is the first version of YYZ..that I "accept" to be different..This one has true creativness..and..I think Rush guys themselves woulde like and be proud of it...even the recreation of Alex `s guitar parts!
deliverence.
I FUCKING LOVE MATTIAS EKLUNDH
i'd lika to have a marleaux too so badly!!!
that was really something the first time i heard this i thougth the fills were really cool but this took it to another level bro ur amazing
Can't believe I saw you play on the Disney Dream and never had a clue it was you.

Amazing skills, you‘re awesome dude, I‘m a drummer, but with all respect, I like very much the way you execute your performance, bass players are my partners!
I'd love to see the guitar version of this song, im curious now
it's a Ritter of course its gonna be good
omfg thats fuckin tight i love you your an amazing bassist dude i wish i was half as good as you.. good guitarist too btw. give him my props damn your good love the solos i would love to have this for a cover song im my libary of music man
Deserving of a handshake from Geddy Lee.
GNAR GNAR
is that triple plucking? thats amazing
You are fucking GREAT!
very nice slap 2:05
Those harmonics sounded of Legend of Zelda.
Yup, Matthias Ekhlundh is known for that.
@tdlbr17 its a ritter. go to ritter-instruments[DOT]com and there are tons of beautiful basses in the history album tab.
You forgot the Whip!!!
whats the difference between the normal thin jazz pickup and the big fat ones he has on his bass.
DUDE!!!! I hate you! no just kidding... So dang awesome and the harmonics at 2:20 totally BLEW my brain out of my skull. I am going to go practice now!
Sounds like IA on guitar.... (1.38)
Ye, i think its IA ,Mattias Eklundh.
Great bassplaying aswell.
Good luck
is that a whammy pedal i hear in some of the guitar parts?
Did you play the guitar also??Because that's not the normal guitar from YYZ...Υου are awesome dude...by the way..nice bass !!
How much would that bass go for.
@rage1331 Aside from the fact that all of Geddy's runs and solo's in this song actually seem to have an actual feel to them. Don't get me wrong, the harmonics at the end of Solo #3 were sick, but the whole thing seems so robotic compared to the original.
And if you haven't bit your tongue, do so now.
you are a fucking monster in bass
oh shit u play amazing!!
yeah man that guitar is fkn sick luv it XD oh and the bass is ok jk stay with it :)
gregg bissonette? didnt he play with satriani?
Hey, that was good. My only complais is the abuse of whammy on the guitar.
Where are you from?
I'd hire you for the soul patch alone if I was in the business of hiring session bassists.
In all seriousness though, That's a beautiful bass.. and a pretty good track. The tone isn't quite there, imo... but the playing is excellent!
@MONEYMANRULEZ45 No... Guy from Brutal Legend looks like him ! :D
@4Garfield4 Eu também não sei se foi erro de masterização ou o cara não tem sensibilidade nenhuma e bichou com a música, o baixo no começo nem aparecia atrás dessa guitarra, ficou muito alto o volume desse merda!
No he didnt cover it, he made it his own. Like with the guitar its like its a whole never version nice job.
dude, you look like th guy from Brutal Legend.
@rage1331
Respect.
jaw drop @ 2:20
Yeah, maybe then you won't have to worry about stage fright at Guitar Center anymore
jesus boy calm down!
neat. I'm a purist, but that is respectable.
Man this is amazing pretty cool bass and awesome play it thanks a lot for visit my channel and comment you're great 😄👍🏼🥁🎸🎶
@rage1331 Seriously....? Ha ha ha!
Jack Black?
I second that...its an annoying sound.
LOL the guitar sounds like Steve Vai drunk or someone who's trying to exaggerate his whammy style...
hate the guitar and drums, loved the bass
IMO awesome but not as good as the original
Jajaja... better get a mirror
Bass and drums are nice, but I don´t like the guitar style
I hate when tech metal guys try and do Rush. There's no feeling in it.
Damn, the guitar in this is awful. At least the bass playing is interesting.
ugly guitarsound
omG, that was awesome... That's what i call a bass playa :D
