    Thank you. My mother came to the U.S. mainland a while ago and I always wondered about the proper way to use it. This is especially after my bad effort of cooking beans in a pressure cooker. This helps a lot. I also saw a tip somewhere that if you don't want to run the pot under water, you can get a spoon and prop it under the black knob until the metal part that gauges the coldness/hotness releases

    Hello from 2020. This video is very informational. I use to own an electric pressure cooker, which was quite expensive. It's broken now and I am thinking of getting a new one. You are missing a *VERY* important part of safely using a pressure cooker: once the jiggler starts doing its thing, you're supposed to adjust the heat so that it only jiggles every couple minutes or so. This keeps you from getting to a point where you could ever have too much pressure in the cooker but you still have the same amount of heat inside. This also keeps you from getting to the point where you could have an explosion since you know your pressure is always right at the pressure your jiggler is set at.

    • @iamfishmind
      @iamfishmind 6 лет назад +3

      Presto pressure cookers have two release valves for too high pressure, so even if you don't know to lower the heat, it's very very unlikely to blow up.

    • @cc19805
      @cc19805 5 лет назад +1

      Very important, indeed. If the pressure is too high, the liquid will evaporate too quickly and the food could burn if it rests on the bottom of the pan versus resting on a rack.

    May I ask why you were not using the plate that goes in before the food to keep it from sticking to the bottom of the cooker? I thought you always had to use that.
    Why do you place the weight on before venting. I thought you always have to vent for a few minutes to release the air in order for it to work properly. I was also taught not to run water ovee the weight but to run a slow stream below the weight on the solid part of the cooker. A bit confused now .

      +Stacey Meadows Thank Stacey, Lamb and goat meat as the same texture or hardness. Look at my curry goat video and do lamb the same way. In Jamaica, people buy lamb for goat meat and often do not know the difference. To me there is a slight difference in taste. Yes imported lambs are here, I personally saw a few somewhere. But must lamb meat sold are imported from where I don't know. Nevertheless, goats rome the island like people. we just walk past them, even in the city. Just yesterday, I say oxtail for JA$1,500.00 in a small package in the supermarket. WOW! I just walk pasted..

      Wrong, wrong, wrong for dry beans and split peas never more than half the pot including water and add a Tblsp.of oil when cooking dry beans to minimize the frothing when the beans start to cook! For everything else never fill it more than two-thirds full. There are often marks placed within the pot for filling.
