Some of you may think that this movie is about black hating whites or whatever But it just portrays some of the ways some of us black peolpe are treated past and present. Not because you are "white" means that you treat(ed) blacks that way. But truly I personally think everyone should be treated with respect as equals black or white.
The book is one of my all time favorite books. It was so real, so true, so amazing. Stop saying this is a thing for black people to hate white people. Just stop. This movie is to show what is actually happening in society. It shows you the truth. It’s so inspirational. Do you guys realize how many movies that oppress black people are applauded? Then, when there is a movie about the truth with black and white people, you think you are oppressed. Just stop. Actually think about it for once. If you think it’s unfair, think about what’s actually happening. This is not saying all white people are bad, it is not saying that black people are better. Everyone is equal and you should start acting like it. If it weren’t for stupid choices and discrimination, a movie like this wouldn’t be made. But it is. It has a powerful message behind it. The book is flat out, amazing. The movie, I just know is going to be just as or even more amazing.
Listening to the book on audible right now as a white person trying to become better informed about systemic injustices black individuals face. I don't take offense at any of the content, but am definitely saddened by the depth of the reality of injustices many persons of color face in our society. Listening to learn and better understand so that I can try and be a part of change going forward. Side note: I don't plan on watching the film until I finish the book, but I hope they didn't trim this scene from the book down as much as this clip makes it appear that they did. That scene was powerful.
The book is amazing and I think this comment needs to be engrained on everyone's retinas before they start commenting whatever ignorant bullshit they were about to comment
True. A lot of people in my mom’s old ghetto neighborhoods used to deal and use. They couldn’t get any real jobs ‘cause there wasn’t any real jobs around. One of the reasons I love ‘Pac so much is that everything he rapped about was educational. It’s about minorities: black people, Mexicans, poor people, everybody at the bottom. God bless them and this movie. 🙏❤️
@marneebox C. The neighborhoods are exactly what you said. They're "low-income." The people living there in those neighborhoods mostly can't work because 90% percent of them are ex-cons. It's harder for someone who has a prison record to get a job because of the offense that landed them in jail. They struggle a lot to support their families and because their family doesn't have enough of anything, the ex-con usually goes back to doing the things that put them in jail. And the cycle goes on and on and on.
watching this movie I bawled my eyes out, the book had been so good but seeing it come to life was unreal if you like the movie and believe strongly in what it stands for read the book. its life changing
I'm seeing certain comments here and let me say if you haven't read the book or seen the movie and assume because how other materials have been that this will be the same way do not so unless you trolling dont be ignorant. No this is not a white vs black movie or police vs blacks movie, it's a grew up in the hood and ghetto and poor poverty stricken communities movie is the best way I can put it that you should view it. It's about how ALL are negatively affected and kept down if you live in the wrong part of town. It's about the real struggles of people who had or have to live in rough areas. After watching this movie I see it is trying to make all us aware what I been knowing for a long time, that it's not really about race and racism that is a systematic manipulation tactic that have us all divided and ignorant to the real problem which is class/classism and money. Its design to keep people from becoming more dont you all get that? Just like anything else and I mean anything why dont you all see its really all about money? Not black and white, Hispanic and Asian, middle eastern and native american but about green about money. I never see or hear a rich black or Hispanic or Asian or middle easterner blame racism for their problems or injustices.
Saw This movie last night and it's AMAZING!!!!!!!! So Powerful, So Raw, So Real!!!! Because T.H.U.G.L.I.F.E=The Hate U Give Little Infants Fucks Everybody! This movie is about a girl finding her voice and standing up for what's right to make a difference!!! It's about Unity and people coming together!!!
This movie isn't about hate towards whites it's about the fact that people are discriminated for their color and ethnicity.. its about people being ignorant and thinking that there isn't a problem... if we could each treat each other based off how we are unless then the color of skin we would go so far...
Girlwithasweetheart 900 obviously all lives matter but since our country was built on racism and the oppression of blacks, black lives still aren’t seen as valuable as other lives
It would be funny if someone hacks into Donald Trump's twitter account and have his tweet say "this movie looks really good," and then put the link for the trailer to The Hate U Give. The movie goes against everything Trump stands for and I like seeing Trump pissed off.

Well, if they don’t change a lot of things, then I agree with you, it’s gonna be great
