There’s a great video on RUclips of Dio recording his verse in the studio. He wrecks it and one-takes it, blowing Jack Black’s mind and all the other people in the studio as well. He asks if they want another take and Jack Black is like “no, that was perfect.” And Dio’s like “ man, I was having fun!” Lol. And he says he likes his lyrics. Lol. The thing that I love about this is that Meat Loaf is portraying a dad who thinks rock and roll is the devil’s work meanwhile he’s a rocker himself. This is just hilarious. Unfortunately both Dio and Meat Loaf are gone at the time that I’m posting this comment.
Also, the song you heard on MTV is called “Tribute” the chorus goes “This is not the greatest song in the world... this is just a tribute... couldn’t remember the greatest song in the world, no... this is a tribute... to the greatest song in the world.” The music of the song is clearly implying that the song they’re referring to is Stairway to Heaven
@@gimphandjeff I mean, the album version still has chord progressions and rhythms reminiscent of Stairway. But I agree, they did mask it a bit more in the album version.

@@RemniStrath I mean... that’s clearly the inspiration for the actual events of the song with them battling the devil with music... that’s just obvious. (And also the inspiration for the pick of destiny movie) I’m talking about the actual music.
The dad was played by the legendary Meatloaf, in Tenacious D Jack plays acoustic rhythm guitar, Kyle Gass plays the lead. This was the opening and first song of The Pick of Destiny, which was the full length musical film version of the story BEHIND The Greatest Song In the World.
