That heart-to-heart between Kiryu and Saejima really showed that while there are similarities between the two, unlike Kiryu, Saejima doesn't have any regrets about being a yakuza and he never felt caught between the underworld and the civilian world. Saejima being self-assured in spite of what he's gone through makes him a strong form of emotional support and a good confidant for Kiryu.
Well, Saejima said he was ok during his lockdown because he knew Yasuko and Majima were waiting for him once he was out, but... 1 - He was condemned to death and never supposed to be out 2 - During all his time in jail he thought that Majima betrayed him. Probably he had his doubts and was looking for truth, but definitely he had the best feelings for his brother at the time...
I'm late to the Yakuza series but I enjoy the Storytelling and the passion. I'm on Yakuza 5 but any spare moment I get, I'm playing it. Wonderful series.
This is just a big cutscene, which I love, for those wondering we will get tons of action and story next chapter (which is the finale)
I was gonna post a comment explaining this but you beat me too it haha. This chapter is basically just setting up the big showdown in the finale.
I love chapters in games or episodes in a tv Show like this which set up the finale, they just get you more hyped

Which is funny because Kiryu joined because he was actually a crazy yakuza fanatic as a kid but Saejima joined to save his sick sister
Well “puts a pile of sunglasses” you could say: it’s all coming together......... and sh*t about to go down...... again
That is one convoluted storyline.
