Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your family! Been watching you for 16 Years now :) Thank you for being a consistent part of my life with your videos !
Great list! Merry Christmas! For me it's S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2, Unicorn Overlord, Metaphor: Refantazio, Silent Hill 2, Balatro, Satisfactory. It was kind of an expansion but I really liked Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. Also I had a lot of fun with Shadow of the Erdtree this year too. It was also cool to see a new release for Lollipop Chainsaw but I didn't like that the music was removed.
Dragon Quest 3 HD2D is my favorite release this year. The nostalgia trip was just I needed, and I had forgotten how much I loved the game. Being able to class switch really makes it for me. It allows me to plan a playthrough based on the party I will create, and that sets up lots of long term goals to grind towards, so the grind has an aim. I just adore this remake.
Not in order, but from the 2024 games I finished, the best are Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, Space Marine 2, Banishers Ghosts of New Eden, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. Guilty pleasures were Sandland and Alone in the dark remake. And games that I'm most excited to play in 2025 are Metaphor, KCD2, Paper Mario, Thaumaturge
Infinite Wealth ♾️ was my favorite gane this year glad you mentioned it not enough people talk about it. Also enjoyed Metaphor ReFantazio, Astrobot, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, and Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. What an incredible year for gaming.
FF12 had the most play hours, but Stellar Blade was my nr 1, Dragon Quest 3 hd was a lot of fun to play to. Finished that and hope to replay it in a few years. Big plus with Dragon quest you can make a ridiculous crew, then change their jobs and improve them a lot.
This year has delivered so many amazing games. FFVII: Rebirth, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Tekken 8, plus the MvC collection & many more Cannot pick just one
Mario Party Jamboree is one of my favourite games of the year. And probably my favourite in the series since Mario Party 7. Love the new and old boards and the mini games themselves are so fun to play
I would recommend to you Granblue Fantasy Relink which also released this year. A bit lacking in the story department but totally worth it for the gameplay and visuals. Happy Christmas to you and your family.
Merry Christmas Johnny and Kim! Some of my favorites I’ve played this year is FF7 Rebirth, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Mario Party Jamboree, Sonic and Shadow Generations, Legend of Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, and The Plucky Squire. Just beaten Mario and Luigi Brothership yesterday, and I gotta say it’s been an awesome year for games. Soo many more yet to play and finish. Great Line Up of games you played this year. I always enjoy watching your new videos you post!
Even though I play none of the games you play or review, I have to say I love your videos and always look forward to seeing them. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and your loved ones.
I'm glad to see Visions of Mana getting some love. I really enjoyed it, and I hope we get more Mana games that build off its foundations. As a side note, it's also the only game I've ever platinumed. It's pretty rare that a game makes me want to do everything.
FFVII Rebirth for me was the #1definitive gaming experience in my life, I grew up playing all the FF games in the 90's and FFVII being my fav game ever and the one i played countless times throughout my life I couldn't relate more when he said the main characters are like our own friends that we've known our whole lives, I have been playing games for about 30 years now and no game gave me the experience that Rebirth did ❤
@JonathanS-x7w it's all a matter of personal opinion in the end, I've played heaps of RPGS and probably most of the ones worth trying but for me Rebirth tops them all, as I said "for me" lol
Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Astro Bot, Animal Well, Eiyuden Chronicles, Silent Hill 2 are some of my favorites. And I'm really enjoying Indiana Jones most recently. It doesn't seem like right now a lot of RPGs are on the docket for 2025, at least at the moment. But my most anticipated are Metroid Prime 4 and hopefully(finally) Hollow Knight: Silksong.
I have spent close to 30 h with Eiyuden and loved the journey, but the game keeps on crashing on what I assume must be one of the last chapters of the game. So frustrating!
Im totally not keeping up with current ganes at all 😢😢😢 but this year i did snag Balatro, such a fun well made casual game. Also played through Luigi's Mansion 3, Prey 2017, Ori Will of the Wisps, Monster Hunter World, and now Dragon Quest 3 SNES version.
My favorite was Ys X: Nordics. Rebirth and Metaphor up there too. Please leave your livestreams available to watch. I never know when you are live and I catch the very end of the streams.
My game of the year is an unorthodox pick. I started streaming on twitch as part of my therapy for ptsd and the one thing that really helped me was Nintendo switch online. The amount of time I decided hey I’m going to play an older title from my childhood or fzero99 has blown my mind. I have enjoyed it so much
I feel you but from experience streaming with PTSD, resist over sharing on a stream. When people do that I don't think it's therapy I actually think it does more harm in the long run because a lot of those people that are going to watch those videos don't need to be knowing some of those incredibly personal things. I'm saying this because I made the mistake and experienced it in a very bad way so just be careful have fun
My 2024 game of the year is Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. I bought and backlogged so many games in 2024, I am still plaything through P3R, Stellar Blade and FF7. in the que Grandblue Fantasy, Ys X, Trails through Daybreak, Dragon Quest 3, Astro Bot, Vision of Mana and Unicorn Overlord. Thanks to " no tax" for a month in Canada on physical games I am buying up some end of the year deals like Black Myth Wukong, Rise of Ronin.
Something i don't think alot of people mention about stellar blade outside of it's combat and character designs. But how sometimes you enter a dungeon and it somehow has a flavor of a resident evil game or just a survival horror game in general. With enemies that are usually pretty tough that trap you in a narrow hallway.
My top games for this year are: Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Persona 3 Reload, The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak, Metaphor: ReFantazio. Also ZZZ & GFL2. Merry Christmas Johnny.
John I have a legit question here. Did Metaphor actually not make your top list? I thought it was your goty. I am about to buy it now so I'm in doubts lol
I tried the Romancing Saga 2 Remake demo and it's been surprisingly fun. There's been so many good rpg's out this year, trying to get them all. DQ3 looks amazing. I first played the GBC version, and i still have it.
Have a Merry Christmas, Johnny--I hope you're already getting into the Christmas spirit and enjoying some time to just rest, play games, and be with the family. Thank you for another year of Sundays!

Mine was Silent Hill 2. There's been a lot of good horror remake of late but this one was on another level of impressive if you ask me. Remaking that was a tall overflowing order, but a studio that was struggling to put out a successful game pulled themselves together, leveled up and did a masterpiece justice. It's inspiring really and is one of those stories that makes me want to try harder on my own artistic pursuits. Gotta admit I didn't play a ton of new games this year but another that stuck out to me was Another Crab's Treasure. I don't see it get mentioned much anymore but I thought it's take on the souls formula was really smart and made for something that felt pretty different.
Didn't play a huge amount of new games but my top 10 games I play for the first time this year are: 1) Elden Ring 2) Lorelei and the Laser Eyes 3) Hollow Knight 4) La-Mulana 5) Tomb Raider I-III Remastered 6) Patrick's Parabox 7) Quake 2 (all expansions) 8) Bosconian 9) Mystic Warriors 10) Taiji
Awesome video as always! ;D I didn't play that many new games this year, but those that I did were stellar! - Cat Quest III, Cat Quest series is such a good hidden gem. Is it hard? no. Is it fun? YES!! - Sonic x Shadow Generation, best Sonic game in years. Waaay better than Frontiers. - Ys X Nordics, haven't finished it but so far I am really enjoying it.
Great list of games. I think you have a lot of fans wondering what you thought of the game awards game reveals. Enjoy the holidays first, and then your impressions on the show.
What's wild to think about, Sega/Atlus put out 4 AMAZING JRPGS this year, Metaphor, Yakuza 8, P3, and SMT5 Vengence. I only had time for 2 of them this year alone, but as far as I can tell all 4 games are amazing. (Metaphor is my runner up for GOTY which was actually Astro Bot)
My top 3: Astro Bot, Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream, and Granblue Fantasy Relink. And I would have enjoyed Sparking!, Rebirth, Visions of Mana, P3 Remake, Metaphor, and Stellar Blade, but I wasn't hooked.
I have to add one that you completely glossed over and that is Trails into Daybreak even though literally all of the boss battles are stupidly easy. That might just be the difficulty I am on though. Being able to spam S crafts in boss battles for quick and easy victories is kinda broken in my opinion. I might have to rethink the difficulty level for Daybreak 2. Loved everything else about the game though. Mario & Luigi Brothership is pretty awesome, too. Edit: a lot of people are complaining about how ridiculously easy Daybreak is even on Nghtmare difficulty. Definitely hoping that boss battles are more challenging in Daybreak 2.
For traditional jrpg fans, eiyuden chronicle hundred heroes seems to have been way under the radar. It's making me very excited for the upcoming suikoden remaster.
Find a way to at least try *Helldivers 2!* No pvp, matchmakes you with helpful divers, has some of the best unscripted action moments in any game. Like playing a soldier inside a scene straight from Starship Troopers, some Aliens, and a dash of the war scenes from Terminator. I'll walk ya through it if you ever pick it up!
Game of the year I think I’m going with Unicorn Overlord. Still need to pick up Metaphor. But my next purchase after Balarto is Going to be Animal Well.
