    So doing lots of stretching will help it not tear correct? I’m scared to do anything. I don’t want a depressing 5+ month recovery😒. What can I do if I Have severe Achilles tendinitis? Like what kind of cardio can I do that has a low chance of it rupturing? Thanks!Can it still rupture at my age 15 years old male?

    Hello, all help is very much appreciated. I am on 6 weeks of non weight bearing with 20 degrees in a boot. I'm in middle of week 6, the doctor wants me to set my boot to zero degrees. And next week when I start partial weight bearing with zero degrees. To go from 20 degrees to just 0 degrees, isn't that dangerous?

    Hi Dr. If a patient had Achilles’ tendon surgery and they are week in 10-14 and they are struggling with limited ROM in ankle joints, dorsiflexion, squats and lunges. Would you say it’s due to build up scar tissue restriction mobility in the joints, muscles and tendon? Would active gastron therapy help mobilize the scar to activate normal functional ROM? Is this normal during the Achilles proctol?

    • @physiorehab
      @physiorehab  3 года назад

      Yep. - you can massage out the tendon and mobilize the ankle joint now

    If I caused pins and needles in my calf and foot because of a hamstring stretch and tight sciatic nerve, should I still be doing the nero flossing technique for my sciatica or stop until it heals?

    Hello Doctor, I had an achille tendon break on my right foot while playing basketball. It's been a month. when I move with the crutches i put my tiptoe injured on ground while paying attention .. Because crutches are old, i am too heavy for moving without putting that foot on the ground and the plaster is damaged because of that, i removed it. So :
    1) I would like to know if it will have consequences that i walk putting on the ground tiptoe achille tendon repaired ..?
    2) I also would like to know if i will be able to walk correctly as before because I can not bend my foot at 90 degree at this moment..?
    Thank you Doctor.. !!!

    Good evening doctor. I had an Achilles repair surgery 10 days ago. I am worried because so far, my surgeon has not mentioned having to use a walking boot to me. Also, he has not mentioned any possibility of undergoing physiotherapy. All he did was to put my foot in a cast and ask me to get crutches which he said I’ll be using for three weeks, after which the stitches will be removed and the direction of my foot will be changed from pointing downwards, and I’ll spend another three weeks that way before I can walk on my own again. Does this sound sensible?

    Dear Dr this is kindly to ask how can i know if my leg has tendon repture?

    • @physiorehab
      @physiorehab  4 года назад +1

      Most ruptures whether partial or full you will have pain and swelling in the tendon. To test a full rupture you do the calf squeeze test. you lie on your front with your foot handing over the end of the bed. Get some one to squeeze your calf and if you foot doesn’t point or move at all - it’s ruptured. You also wouldn’t be able to walk very well

    • @kevintran2522
      @kevintran2522 2 года назад +1

      It takes about 4-6 weeks for the tendon to fully heal. You doctor is being precautious as he does not want you to accidentally tear it again. Some doctors don't take this approach and will allow the patient to go into the boot after 2 weeks with the foot at 120 degrees pointing downwards. Most of the decision is based on age, your recovery response and how much risk the doctor is willing to take.

      @@kevintran2522 okay thanks for the reply! I guess it’s better to cautious in my case possibly. My doctor mentioned to me that my Achilles was thinner than other peoples he has seen in the past so maybe that has something to do with it ?

      I’m almost 6 weeks post op and I’ve been a cast the whole time. I get to go into a boot in 2 weeks. My last surgeon let me go straight into a non weight bearing boot, looks like each Dr is different. I wanted to go back to work and I do a lot of walking, so I guess he felt the cast was safer.

    I'm four weeks into my second achilles tendon surgery (different foot now) and wondering when I can begin PT???
    After my first surgery I was walking at this time and pretty much skipped PT all I did was stretch it every now and then and by month 4 or 5 I was back on the court.
    Only downfall to this that I noticed was a small lump and thicker achiles tendon and loss of a few inches in my verticle jump. My concern is not lossing any more height on my jump.
    Any expert advice?????
