  • While in California for a family event, I find myself with a few hours to spare. As luck would have it, my lodging in Cobb is just minutes away from Boggs Mountain, a small peak intertwined with a network of dirt roads. My friend Rob who lives in the Bay Area joins me in the exploration.

    I love the content sir. Your sense of humor is refreshing. I also like the narration on the sites you visit. I loved in Portland for a year and had to move back to Cali for work but hope to get back to the PNW soon. Also a forester owner and looking to do some mods to it now that's its got 3 years on it. I love the way the 1" lift looks. I don't want any of the issues that come with the 2" lift. Your rig looks great. Like the DIY rack as well. Keep it coming!

    I think sometimes burnt things make a more interesting trip. Opens up the terrain some so you can see things you would normally not see. Great job on the video! I saw no cattle guards though.... ;-) By the way chainsaw and window cleaner should be EDC! Look that one up.... See you on the trails, George.

      EDC indeed. I should know that if I think I won't need it, I definitely will. I didn't bring it along on the Alvord trip either...I mean, there's virtually no trees. But then our plans changed and during our final day up in Malheur National Forest, guess what...yep. I'll never leave it home again!

    That tree in the road should have been a sign from God haha. Nevertheless great video as usual.
    Heres my shitty story from the last weekend:
    I was on an offroad trip with the local Subie group. At meet-up a lifted 2014 AWD Rav4 showed up. The guy previously had an Impreza and decided to come with us with his new rig. I gotta admit the little Rav4 looked so good given those All terrains and the 2inch lift. Moreover it didnt get stuck! In fact it did better than the 2017 Outback which needed some help at one of the mud pits.
    End of my shitty story.
    Dont even know why I wrote it.
    Peace out :3

    • @softroadingthewest
      @softroadingthewest  5 лет назад

      My feeling is any AWD car with a lift, good AT tires, and smart, experienced driving has potential to shine on the trail. That someone did well with a RAV4 doesn't negate the legitimacy of owning a Subaru. I'd say, good for him, and good for you - sounds like a good trail buddy to have. Always nice to be out there with someone who knows how to drive their rig without getting stuck, regardless of what they drive. 8^)

    Great video! Do you have an air compressor you recommend for bringing your tires back up to recommended PSI for pavement? I was considering using my floor standing bike pump.

    • @softroadingthewest
      @softroadingthewest  4 года назад

      I run a Viair 88p which works great for the size of tires I have. Larger tires may need a bigger compressor. I've never tried with a bike pump but I think that would quickly prove frustrating. It's one thing to get a couple of tiny bike tires to 60 psi but you'd have to move a pretty large volume of air to reinflate 4 car tires... As frugal as I am, $50 for a decent compressor has proven to be an excellent investment. :-)

      That is the Redwoods State & National Park along the northern California coast just south of Crescent City. It's a lovely drive that cuts off from Hwy 101 then rejoins it, with countless trails to hike among the big trees. There's no cost to enter/use this park. You can also find giant trees at Sequoia National Park further south in California...I've not been to that one but I believe it's quite interesting to visit as well.

      I do understand some people prefer videos with no music, and some of my favorite channels use no music. But personally, I also really enjoy channels that do use music with their videos. I also simply enjoy the process of integrating music in my editing. It's an additional piece of the puzzle which I find rewarding, trying to musically capture a hint of the mood of the moment. While this particular video admittedly includes a higher than usual percentage of music, most of my videos include quite a few non-music segments.
