This Aspen event shows that Monty Python, individually and collectively, are geniuses of humor. They demonstrate that everything, at any time, can be funny and that we shouldn't take ourselves - or any grand ideas - too seriously.
I first saw this show when it was originally on and when they knocked over the ashes, I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair. Have always been a huge Monty Python fan and the "Search for the Holy Grail" is probably my favorite comedy movie. Perfectly "Pythonesque".
This was at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. There was also a Cheers reunion at the festival, that’s why most of the Cheers cast is in the audience. Also interesting to note is that John Cleese once had a guest role in an episode of Cheers, and he won an Emmy for that.
The world seems like a smaller place when these guys are in the room. There's no other group of literary majors that would decide to forget about their books and take the time to make the world a little bit (a lot) happier with jokes, tv shows, and movies. Thank you MP Sincerely, the future
They surely will be remembered for ever, their names will echo through every theatrical genuinely well designed comedies and their names will be recorded in books and they will certainly go down in history as one of the most humble worthwhile, creative, transparent actors in the uk history. And i know this because I as an historian will make sure of it by spreading their work through my books. "once upon a time there were a bunch of guys not withstanding the bored to death conventionalisim of their time and decided to embark onto the terrifying journey of making a living by making people look on the bright side of life.
It's so nice to be an Englishman with an absurd sense of humour. We may no longer have an Empire and Dominions over the sea, but boy we can still laugh at the silliest of things. I'm not sure if it's our eccentricities that shape our comedy or the fact that through the ages we've been brought up in a regimented education system. God Bless these guys, whose humour I grew up with. The end song with Graham's 'ashes' rhythmically moving with the singing just about sums up their irreverent look at life!
i have been searching for this for more than 10 years. Thank you so much it was a great gift. which is also what these guys gave us, the gift of laughter. thanks again.
omg! these guys never stoped being funny ah?! this so made me laugh myself to tears! I love the Monty Python , and just as I thought I knew all their joks , they manage to surprise the audience with so called unexpected speech! 2:40 ! great posting thanx!!
wow after 2 years still not a single dislike these guys are truly a gift to humanity their comedy antics inspired a world of comedians to create and imagine things that never before were .
12 years ago, RUclips showed the dislikes, and stopped showing them a few years ago, maybe a year or two before the pandemic, I don't remember. There could be a few now; only the channel runner knows. Let's all hope that, if there are dislikes, those humorless people who put them there find some humor in their cheerless lives, for their sake as well as for the sake of those who have to live and work with them.
So what have we learnt? Oh yes thats right. You can throw stale rock hard biscuits at people, IF! and only if you are singing a song someone has to be happy to.
With all the reboots and ideas for tv-shows going about, I would love a show that was about the production on Monty Python's Flying Circus. It would probably take some good actors with hellish chemistry between each other to make it work though.
Looks like most of the cast of Cheers is there. Ted Danson, George Wednt, Woody. They're all sitting together. I would think there's alot of celebs in the audience.
In terms of raw comic talent, the Pythons as a group have never been matched since the first episode aired in 1969, and I find it very unlikely that they ever will.
It's sad. I loved them since the 80s. Even though we get many comedians that are funny. I don't think we will get a group like this again. I know it's a cliche, but it's true. Think about it. Never a new "spam" or "dead parrot" sketch... it's all been done before now. I am 53 and it seems like the quality of entertainment are on a downslope ...
If I had caught one of these sandwiches ,Michael was throwing in, I would have framed it and hang it into my bedroom, so I could watch it every time before I went to sleep....yeah that´s what I would do o.O
When Michael opened the urn and talked to Graham 😂 I hope G enjoyed his tea as well...♥
love that the cast of Cheers is just randomly in the audience
+TheSoulMan8 I think Mickey Dolenz was there too.
@@pcwkid76 really dammit I missed him

One of my all-time favorite 'cast' interviews is this. Every one of these gentlemen, so damn funny. Even Graham... and he's dead!
Is this a nod to Mr. Plinkett?
He may be dead but he is there! very fine container ...

The Pythons. Masters of comedy. Nobody comes close to matching these guys. Thank you for posting.
They are the best thing that ever happened to comedy.
These guys were/are unique. Their comedy was on a different level to anything produced by anyone else.

Amen to that.

14 years. Not a single dislike

It's the whole cast of Cheers in that shot. You can see Ted Danson and Rhea Perlman and John Ratzenberger all there too.
So what have we learnt? Oh yes thats right. You can throw stale rock hard biscuits at people, IF! and only if you are singing a song someone has to be happy to.

Killjoy McQuire the bbc did a comedy/drama about the production of life of Brian! It was called "holy flying circus" if I remember rightly.
Thank you soooo much for posting this!!!
The Beatles are the Monty Python of music.
Thank you for posting this video, very valuable in the history of comedy!

Only these guys can turn something as unfunny as the US Comedy Arts Festival into something worth watching. 😂

It's just a flesh wound
6:02 Woody Harrelson !
Mighty python
In terms of raw comic talent, the Pythons as a group have never been matched since the first episode aired in 1969, and I find it very unlikely that they ever will.
@0:55 ~ 1:11 is the most hilarious part of this whole shit show!
Existe version completa d duracion 56'minutos.Pero la calidad visual es muy variable.
it´s the whole cast from cheers
Geroge Wendt is also there.
I guess it's a Cheers reunion too...
I think I know where your name comes from - dim1309. Did it come from "Inspector Dim" - from one of Monty Python's court scenes?
Great video too
Well, it was a comedy festival.. there were bound to be other actors and comedians there as well.
At 6:02 the shot of the audience, some familiar faces.
06:00 That's Woody Harrelson in the audience!
@TaisabRakshasa - i couldn't agree more with you :)

It does look like him...
... and George Wendt. Dang, I never get invited.
If I had caught one of these sandwiches ,Michael was throwing in, I would have framed it and hang it into my bedroom, so I could watch it every time before I went to sleep....yeah that´s what I would do o.O
Monty Phyton Are as funny as the Spanish Inquisition is unexpected.

This is called comedy...
All we have now is some guys named Jimmy...
is that ted danson in the audience or just the average american face
...to give us this bit of shit!
"Life's a piece of shit when you look at it".
Isn't America worse than the Soviets on censorship ?!
Shut up! This comment is getting silly.
Think how much material they would have today with all that's going on.
