- It's been quiet around here but I'm making due by keeping myself busy. I'm doing much better after processing this loss for a few days. Sierra sure was special and I plan to honor her by continuing to spend as much time in nature as I possibly can. The first video I saw from you was several years ago. You stood outside your tent and said, "Sierra is still sleeping." And I thought, "Oh, he's traveling with his wife." Then later in the video Sierra woke up bounded into view! I laughed at myself and have loved watching the two of you since.
She was a sweet girl. I cried during your announcement that she was gone. I had to stop watching.
Best wishes for the future. Maybe someday you can share your life with another pup. Not to replace the unreplaceable, but to share your love with another 🐾

Sorry to hear about Sierra. I just watched a buddy of mine have to put down his 12 yr old pup last weekend while watching my old boy on the edge. They truly are family. Take care my friend

I’ve been following your journey with Sierra for a few years now. First video I saw was winter camping and I fell in love with the adorable Sierra. The bond you two shared was very special, and from all the comments, everyone felt the same as me. I’m sure all your fellow travellers/nomads will reach out to you and be there for you as well. I too, lost a pet 10 years ago. A beautiful Rottweiler who could sense when I was feeling down and would nuzzle my hand. I still feel her presence at times even now. Take care friend and we all will be watching your next videos when you are ready.

Get another dog. Don’t wait. We waited 5 years before getting a new puppy. It was a mistake. If I had to do it over again, we would have done it sooner. You are not replacing Sierra, but filling a void. Wishing you all the best on your timetable.

Take your time brother. I lost my cat of 16 years two years ago around Christmas and it took me nearly a year to get over the loss in the family. Pets are a great thing to help remind you the life outside of our daily craziness. Just do your best to remember all the silly and fun times you two had together. Sierra was your family and I have had that loss many times. Time will heal but it won't forget your love for her. Grief is sooo hard to bare but we have no choice. I'll never understand why they are taken from us when their lives are sooo short to begin with. Yes it is extremely difficult, something that I have gone through myself quite a few times relating to pets. My thoughts are with you Brian. It is sad but Sierra is with you.

I personally thank you for the channel; living in the big city, this is one of my "escapes" from the loudness and toxicity that the city has on a daily basis.
On another note, here in Illinois, I was doing food delivery this morning. And while going through the snowstorm and high winds (I'm not far from Lake Michigan), and trying to keep from falling on icy and snowy sidewalks, I thought about something you said a few years ago. To paraphrase, it's not so much the weather, it's having the right equipment.

I am reminded What A wise man once told me I asked him a question how come our furry friends have short time on this Earth. He told me was because the creator of the earth and the Stars he did not want us to leave before our furry friends because he did not want them to be lonely without us. I will go with that answer. Same here - vet just killed my friend Tigger of 18 years. He was my dog's best friend before he died 6 yrs ago. There's another 4 legged soul looking for a home.....rescue it.

Brian, I feel your loss. I had a Rottweiler chow in my life from 8 weeks after her birth to 10 years 10 months old.
Always full of life and love. When she walked near and passed me, she would put her tail out my way in a sign of affection.
When she passed in front of me in our living room, I was devastated for much of a month after.
What helped me was my continued believe she was in the after life with someone to whom she was bring more joy to.
I believe you will always carry the wonderful thoughts of her and the joy she brought you.
Although I do know how you are or will cope with this, I can say, she will be with you in memory and spirit.
I look forward to seeing more adventures you have planned.

I don’t usually comment the loss of Sierra just left me in tears. She wasn’t just your companion but ours as well…when we watched you,knew we’re watching Sierra too. I have had many fur babies, both dogs and cats over the years and each one had a space on earth that nothing else could fill. So, I know what you said in this video is true…you just have to put one foot in front of the other. You will always love her and miss her. She was very special.

We lost 2 pups in 6 months, one of which had cancer that had metastisized to her lungs. The pain is unreal, and it's constant. Eventually the grief lets you come up for air. I'm so sorry. I bet she's in doggy heaven chasing my dogs around in the snow ❤❤
Brian, you gave her such a fulfilling happy life. We are witnesses of this through watching your videos. She had so much love for you. I know she felt love and safe with her Dad. You cared for her and made her comfortable down to the very end of her life. She is still chewing on her favorite bone over the rainbow bridge. Dogs are the best. A human partner can't be expected to go and do whatever you want but a dog is always up for adventure.

I am a senior lady with much experience under my belt. Growing up I knew my parents loved me but recognized there was a conditional side to that love. If I staid within those parameters life was good. I have only been married once and have always known my husband loved me but again recognized there were conditions. When I realized I could no longer live with those conditions we separated. We are still good friends. I have had many fur babies and they have taught me what unconditional love is. My life has been so much more enriched knowing this. Losing Sierra is a heartbreak but having had her unconditional love as long as you have had is going to get you through this next phase of your life.
I have seen folks lose dogs, get new ones and the are all so happy. Its always a new beginning. Sierra would be stoked to see you take in a new doggie some day. Prob be right there in spirit, running and jumping with a new friend in spirit.
I've lost family but shes still there I can see her walking around with you I can feel.her

Sorry for you loss. Over my years, I've had many dogs that fill my heart with joy. I take care of them to their last breath, then they get cremated, placed in a beautiful box and kept on my shelf for me to talk to and keep with me until it's my turn to go. Best of luck.
For nearly a million miles my buddy Blackjack and I drove truck across this country. His seat is still empty and my truck will never be the same. It's been a year and a half now and my heart still breaks. But I know that he was suffering and he needed to go across the bridge. My one consolation is that I know that he is checking out the trails just like you always used to and whenever I think of him I think of him looking back at me from around a bend in the trail as if to say hurry up Dad it's really pretty up here. God bless you for the care you gave her and I understand. I will tell you that to have another will help in time but it will never replace her but it will help build a new relationship that will strengthen both of you. God bless and I will keep you in my prayers as well as your ever faithful companion Sierra. But peace rain in your heart knowing that where she is now is beautiful bright sunlight and warm filled with hundreds and hundreds of friends. She waits for you just around the bend checking the trail out ahead.

Two months ago I lost my 12-year-old guy to osteosarcoma. I also decided not to do chemo. He became a tripod last February and I still had him for another 8 months. It's still pretty raw. Everywhere I look I still see him. Sometimes I swear I hear him moving around. I have his ashes in a photo urn, and of course he'll live in my memory forever.
She will be missed by all of us. She is in our hearts. Always. ❤
