I love mega man as a whole but I think newcomers can pick 3 games to choose from and are personally my favorites. Mega Man 2,8, and 11. They’re so good in their own way. 2 is retro and has that rock and roll sound track… 8 is very underrated and a lot of people hate it because of the voice acting.. 11 is such a good game for such an old franchise being brought to us in this newer age. Hopefully we get a Megaman X video!
I feel like if people get the Legacy Collection, they should at least try out Mega Man 1, and if they don't like it then move to 2. I also recommend going in weakness order for Mega Man 1, even if it is unnecessary in the other games.
3 is my favorite from the classic series. It's nice to look back and see there are so many wonderful games from 1 to 11. I don't like the first game very much because after you play the others, this one feels so clunky, but its historical value is huge. The ones I love: 2, 3, 6 to 11. I really like 4 and 5 and the first one is an ok game. A wonderful series!
It's hard for me to pick a fave. Many entries in the series have their own distinct flavor but if I'm ranking the classic NES ones, 3 is probably my favorite. For some reason I could never get into 7. I don't know what it is, it just feels weird and I could never bring myself to finish it.
WARNING: The first Mega Man Legacy Collection has really bad audio lag on Switch. As such, I'd recommend picking up the Mega Man Anniversary Collection on PS2 if you want to play the NES Mega Man games.
If you happen to have the ability to play Japanese Imported PS1 games, I also recommend the Rockman Complete Works set of games, which are the Famicom (NES) Rockman 1 through 6 with tons of additional content, arranged soundtrack, visual changes in some places, and quality of life fixes like slowdown and lag being removed and such. The definitive 8bit experience overall.

I hope this is a return to video essays/retrospectives!
My favorite entry? Mega Man 8.

What about PS4 and Xbox One?
