Got the call yesterday, went in to hospital, but it didn't happen this time. I've been on PD for over 2 years now. That was my first call. The immunosuppressant meds scare me to be honest, but it's got to be done, no other choice.
I'm post transplant 15 months and I can tell you not to worry about it. The only side effect from Predisone (anti rejection drug I take) that I can detect is my ankles still swell up a bit and that might be because of all the water they have you drink a day (70=90oz) at least that's what my Neprogist says. I have cut back to about 65 oz a day after 13 months but ankles still swell up a bit but if that's all that happens then I could care less! Kidney transplant was a lot of hassle but so well worth it to get off the machine. I wake up 3x a week at 5am and appreciate the fact that I can just go back to sleep for as long as I want. R
Am happy u doing so well and passed one year and I just get my new kidney almost one month so ur video’s are so helpful wish u so many years and good life God be always wiz you ❤

@ like a million bucks. After you wake up from surgery you are 100% better and you get better and better everyday. Just take care of it it’s a gift. I was walking the day after surgery and the recovery wasn’t terrible. My donor is also doing wonderful. Let me know if you have anymore questions or want to hop on a call.

I just had a parent donate a Kidney through the National Kidney Foundation Voucher Program, so I'm only a few months away from my new kidney. I'm also getting it done at the University of Minnesota. I'm trying to get my ducks in order for my surgery, and as such, I'm hoping you can give some advice...im wondering if you have any recommendations on what I should have with when I get to the hospital (in terms of cloths, cell phone, activities, etc). I'm the first one in my family to get surgery of this nature, so we are unsure of what to expect for my 4-6 day hospital stay. Any tips or recommendations would be great. Thanks
I'm am so happy to see you. You look great. So, where did all of this begin? I just heard you say that you've been diabetic all your life. I heard the doc say you should ride an excersize bike. The heck with that! Let the doc get you a therapy ax. =)= Its great to see you up and at 'em, brother
Yes, its does make it higher. Its a Glucocorticosteroid. Gluco - affects bllod sugar. In this case it effects it by suppressing insulin, but im sure the gentlemen is currently using somw form of insulin.

I am new to your channel... Very informative.... I'm from India.... It's been three and half years post transplant for me... Recently i have switched to a plant based whole food diet.... Your vedio in vegan diet is very informative... Unfortunately very few options are available in India... I have to cook everything from scratch.... How is it going for you.... Are you still in a vegan diet? How is it impacting your overall health? Please do reply.... Thanks
For me it was a major relief getting one.for me it helped a lot with my mental health. I feel like a new person now. I think every clinic is different but my care team suggested avoiding high contact spots like boxing and wearing something to help protect it in sports it could potentially get hit. They did say it is actually more protected then my native kidneys because of the placement. I really wish you the best of luck!
Vitamin D might help have you had your levels checked you know that’s important for the immune system I’m sure you have but maybe check your numbers maybe they need to be higher or something like that OK

I was told my sudden drop in kidney function was because of the years of diabetes. I sure hope to get back in the swing of things this summer! :)

I have for the most part. A very few meals I will have meat but that is pretty rare.
So you have to be on Immunosuppressants for the rest of your life?
You do but it is only bad for a few weeks. Mine doesn't bother me at all after nearly a year. It is so worth it. The surgery isn't bad at all.
Can we go to beaches after transplant or we are ristricted to go in there
