    This is probably works even better now since Arnold 7 added the Oidn denoiser for CPU.

    the aiimagesdenoisernoise washes out xgen hair strongly. at least with the settings in the video. Another thing i noticed is that texture maps in the xgen hair, for example in the base or melanin channel, are not rendered when rendering with GPU. thanks anyway for the video

    • @arvidurs
      @arvidurs  3 года назад

      yeah, hair needs way more specular base samples. otherwise the denoise will underperform.
      Might need to bring it up with Arnold Team about XGen GPU support

    Hello Arvid
    regarding rendering with GPU / Arnold and Maya 2020 + : i noticed that for example if i set a mesh to "matte" that does not seem to work correctly with GPU rendering!! any ideas?
    Thank you

    Live render becomes a privilege when render huge asset without lower lod XD

      @arvidurs  3 года назад

      yeah agreed - it's really important to have clean and optimized scene for hero assets

    I also use progressive during lookdev. What are your thoughts about it?

    • @arvidurs
      @arvidurs  3 года назад

      for me progressive takes a little longer to receive the updates - But it's minor. It depends what works best for you :)

    Hi Arvid, I always get to learn something new from your videos. I wanted to ask, Why have you stopped updating your courses on Udemy. I wanted to learn advanced Arnold shaders, materials, lighting setups and renderings but the last time you updated your Arnold course on Udemy was 2019 and we are in 2022 now. Please make a comeback there, people like me can learn a lot of things. Not all heros wear capes. I hope you see this comment.

      Hey! Thanks I read your comment. I’m trying to stay away from udemy because of their pricing and privacy issue. If I should do a course I would host it myself.

    Too bad rendering ruined my computer last week. I was about 95% finished with lightning my Elsa and Aang animation project I have been working on for months now. Maya keep freezing my computer when I tried to add gobos. Eventually, my computer began to restart and shutdown by itself. Now it won't come on at all. This project actually got me noticed by a company all the way in Vancouver who offered me a possible job to work on some Disney shows. Of course Maya is a terrible program and ruined my computer. I was so close to uploading the final version to vimeo and youtube. My focus is animation and my final animation version is vimeo, but I still needed to release a lighting version. It took months to work on this. Now I have to figure out how maya and arnold ruined my computer. I have an ibuypower gaming PC.

      I wouldn't easily blame a software to ruin your machine. It sounds like overheating and random restarts?

    • @Redballoon99
      @Redballoon99 2 года назад

      sounds like the machine is terrible and not MAYA

    What does offline render mean?

    • @arvidurs
      @arvidurs  3 года назад +5

      it comes from a production perspective - final pixel will not be rendered on device, but on farms, servers etc because rendering takes too long. Online/Realtime engines are rendered on device, like unreal or unity.
      All production renders, arnold, vray, renderman, redshift, octance are offline renders.

      @BadNewsBerrington 3 года назад

      Thanks Arvid. I’ve always wondered what that meant and just kept forgetting to ask.
