I don't think the only difference between the 820 and the 309 is onshore/offshore. A huge difference is the fact that the 820 lets your partner live and work in australia immediately after applying while the 309 would make you wait until the 309 is granted for your partner to come to Australia. So for long distance couples, they would have to resort to Visitor Visa -> 820 or WHV -> 820.

I have the same question as Brooke. I am Australian and my fiance is overseas. It seems to be a catch 22 for us. How do we go about living with each other to prove our relationship is genuine when she hasnt got a visa to live with me in Australia? Do i need to move overseas for a year or two if her country will grant me a visa to live there? I dont think she is allowed to live with me in Australia on a tourist visa because her intention isnt specifically a holiday. I am starting to think the only way is for her to apply as a skilled migrant since she is a qualified and experienced high school teacher. I must be missing a piece of the puzzle.
@@chrissleeman9417 hey did you end up getting an answer to this Chris? This is the problem about the partner visas that's really dumb. There is no visa that lets you live with your partner while the temporary or permanent visas are being processed. It really makes me wonder what the point of the 309 is. You get to live with your spouse when the 309 is granted but that would be in about a years time? sometimes even 2? seems unfair. I've heard of people going the Visitor -> 820 route but then your visitor visa has to have an option that allows further visas.
If you live together overseas in a shared family home... again... its near impossible. We are not buying any big ticket items here overseas as we intend to go to Australia.
So typical, that it's all about money and those that have it are allowed to love and be happy. Rest of us basic working class aren't allowed to love someone from overseas, and get to be happy. 6 months committed already, but I'll just have to end it and be alone...😡

yes, I did eventually get my husband here. 👌💯🙏 He arrived in December 2022. It was not easy, thank goodness for Germany, it was a breeze thru Germany ... one issue is the staff in Jamaica who don't seen to be well trained, in certain visas, the airlines need to do more and train their staff better, and maybe our govt should work more closely with airlines to educate them about the Australian Partner visa. I would like a 600 Visa for her to come to Australia for 9 to 12 months to see if we can establish a relationship. She has Good health, grandchildren and property she rents for income. She has visited many countries and has evidence of a past shengan Visa. Obviously because of sanctions she won't be able To transfer income to Australia. I am prepared to sponsor her For a 12 month Visa, And Fully support her. We will also holiday in Australia, Periodically. Do we have any chance of approval? What would be a realistic Time frame for approval? Thank you in advance For your advice.
Hi. I applied for a prospective marriage visa for my fiance, and she did her emedical health examination 36 days ago. I was wondering how long does it take for the examination to be approved? Thanks, pls reply
You can't apply onshore for a partner visa while on a tourist visa. Onshore partner visa is allowed for people who in the country studying or on skilled migration categories visa. You will have to apply for offshore partner visa and both take 8 years processing time now. Instead of 2 years as was before. And that's just for temporary..not the permanent subclass 100. The new immigration visa processing times is cruel
Hello my wife is in Australia on a tourist visa and she wants to apply for a student.. Along with her application can she apply for a spouse visa? She is in Australia and i am in dubai.. pls let me know wat r the documents required for a spouse visa.. Thank u
You cant apply for oither visa categories onshore while on a Tourist visa. Your partner will have to go offshore and re apply for a student visa. And it's now 8 years processing times for a partner visa and isn't cheap. You be looking at $8500 for the visa. Extra $4500 to finalise for the permanent. Plus immigration lawyer charges that can be as much as $5000 and 8 years waiting. They could reject it too. 46% of partner visa was rejected last year after people waiting 2 years for. Now new changes is 8 years processing times. It's cruel
As a prospective marriage visa holder who will marry very soon, can I also use documents used during my subclass 300 visa application to apply for subclass 820/801 Visa immediately after my wedding?
It's 8 years processing time now for just a temporary offshore and onshore partner visa. You going to wait 8 years for your partner to be allowed to stay in Australia?
Can you speak about if you add a partner on your skilled visa application; and then apply for PR a couple years later after the skilled visa is up, do you then have to re-apply and add all new documents etc? Thanks
How that Phillipino woman ever got to australia amazes me as perfect tourist applications with huge bonds get rejected and I watch every dodgy two bit piece of rubbish get to australian customs and walk in, some guy who got five years for murder, lied about it walks in and 110% genuine people get rejected.
This visa all about money and waiting time is disgusting 39 month for this visa this can make people stressed and delay family plan this government law is destroying people relationships 😢
@@tw7811 I already get my visa this month 820 visa only waiting 3 month but I already marry nearly 4 year there no double granted so now need to wait one and half year for 801 visa now I still very hard find job because they only hiring PR and citizen first
@@vuikee1You was lucky you submit the application earlier. New applicants now have to wait for 8 years processing time that's just for temporary partner visa. Just wait for your permanent visa that won't be much longer and you can get a job.
8 years processing times now for partner visa. And it will cost you $20.000 all up for the visa and immigration lawyer. Just marry someone inside Australia and save yourself the headache. Tell your family it won't work. You have to wait 8 years for them to be able to come to Australia. And that's just the temporary partner visa. It was only 2 years waiting period. Now it's 8 years. Immigration can reject it too. Imagine waiting 8 years for an outcome and it gets rejected. It be cruel. But will happen with some people. 46% partner visa was rejected last year. From people waiting 2 years for an outcome.. they lose all that money also. It's not refunded
"Highly likely you will get refusal" For partner visa the rate for refusal 2 years ago when she posted this video was just 4.2%. These are lies to try to sell you their services.

I’m waiting 31 months
Does this apply for a New Zealander living in Australia and wanting to get partner over from off-shore (who is not from NZ)
Hi Traci,if you have a criminal record, your partner visa can approve?
Criminals are not allowed into AUstralia
Hi traci I been in tourist visa for 6mos and back to ph now, how many months I will get for tourist visa again so that we can apply for partner visa?
It's cruel
what about same sex
As a prospective marriage visa holder who will marry very soon, can I also use documents used during my subclass 300 visa application to apply for subclass 820/801 Visa immediately after my wedding?
When did you apply this visa
I’m waiting 31 months
It's 8 years processing time now for just a temporary offshore and onshore partner visa. You going to wait 8 years for your partner to be allowed to stay in Australia?
@@tw7811it's 8 years processing time now. Was only 2 years. You maybe waiting fore a long time now
Can you speak about if you add a partner on your skilled visa application; and then apply for PR a couple years later after the skilled visa is up, do you then have to re-apply and add all new documents etc? Thanks
What sort of temporary visas do people usually come to australia on before applying for the onshore partner visa?
Same question I wanted to find out
Tourist Visa
I want to appply
The department is truly hard and most of the time unjust . Ok
More Aussies dating overseas women why that. Because it's better for the country
You are so beautiful 😍 beautiful 😍 to me.
How that Phillipino woman ever got to australia amazes me as perfect tourist applications with huge bonds get rejected and I watch every dodgy two bit piece of rubbish get to australian customs and walk in, some guy who got five years for murder, lied about it walks in and 110% genuine people get rejected.
iwant to apply my wife in australia
This visa all about money and waiting time is disgusting 39 month for this visa this can make people stressed and delay family plan this government law is destroying people relationships 😢
Did you get your visa
I’m waiting 31 months
@@tw7811 I already get my visa this month 820 visa only waiting 3 month but I already marry nearly 4 year there no double granted so now need to wait one and half year for 801 visa now I still very hard find job because they only hiring PR and citizen first
It was only 2 years processing time. It's now 8 years it's dam cruel
@@vuikee1You was lucky you submit the application earlier. New applicants now have to wait for 8 years processing time that's just for temporary partner visa. Just wait for your permanent visa that won't be much longer and you can get a job.
@@Nathan-ry3yubro it’s not 8 years stop lying
What about arrange marriages 😂
@@Nathan-ry3yu nah won’t take 8 years
"Highly likely you will get refusal" For partner visa the rate for refusal 2 years ago when she posted this video was just 4.2%. These are lies to try to sell you their services.
Is that true?
