Code Red Actually, after you get your MBBS or MD, then you are technically a doctor. Even though you still have to do your residency, you are an actual doctor.

They've probably been gunning their whole academic lives. From my experience in college you either have to be extremely intelligent or have some kind of psychoses about school -neurotic about school and organized to the T. Harvard Students are the scary combination of both of those things

+Rachel Nijenhuis People at the top learn very quickly that a healthy body is necessary for a healthy mind. Staying in good shape, and taking care of yourself is paramount for mental health, especially when facing the pressure at a top med school. These guys know how to take it to the top and stay there. If you don't take care of yourself while doing that, you're going to burn out really fast.

@@jjyo3353 We shouldn't compare like that as different med schools have different areas they are best in. For instance JHU might have the best surgery, while UNC has best primary care, etc. They are all very close to each other in quality anyway.

Good for you, I love this parody song. don't forget to trust your patients and recognize suffering when you see it. Most doctors in practice seem to instantly disregard what the patient says if it has any kind of extra information. I've only had one doctor (that I recall) be grateful for my contribution to diagnosis, and he was a surgeon and he had saved my life. Turned out I needed cholestyramine which is fairly common but he didn't do many intestine surgeries at that point.

Hilarious, my former boss used to work at Harvard. The more Harvard people one works around, the more obvious it becomes why they are at Harvard. 140 publications and less than 40..... There is something about Harvard that cultivates productivity. For instance Joseph Treolar Wearn went to Harvard Medical School and made many significant physiology and anatomy discoveries. People that excel elsewhere in the country often find themselves at Harvard. They also play classical music in the Harvard coffee shops. I miss Boston, a great city. ..

+John Doe The best med school in Mexico is UNAM but its hard to get in. I personally recommend Universidad de Guadalajara. Its a public University and you most likely need connections to get in but its one of the greatest in the country.
wrong. I went to do an internship in Mexico and let me tell you in Guadalajara hospitals they have no respect for UAG. I remember they mixed transfer and native students in the hospital and they paired students to go in and help out in surgery. They asked the first kid and he said UdeG and they instructed him to help the surgeon while the UAG kid was left cleaning the surgery room instead.
Dude its just a song, as a med student one must know how to relax, it's not all about the medicine, but to know how to fit it in your life. I speak from experience since I'm a med student as well.
Not just med students. Anyone who wishes to succeed in anything they do ought to know how and when to relax and take some time off their studies/work.

Graham Holloway True getting in is hard, and my past few semesters in school haven't really been up to par, but one must have hope right? I still have maybe a year before I graduate high-school, and then four more years of my undergraduate degree before this. And also, the MCAT comes after graduating from med school.

Yeah hope is fine to have but you must also be realistic. Harvard is a bigger crap shoot than any medical school. You have to ROCK undergrad I mean ROCK it 3.8 and up well if you're a minority slightly less. You need biochem, organic chem, molecular bio, gen chem 1 & 2, bio 1 & 2, genetics, physics, and some humanities. You need the MCAT! which happens BEFORE medical school at least a 30 to be competitive, idk where the fuck you heard it comes after. USMLE step 1 happens your second year of medical school which in which you need a 230+ to be competitive for residency, and so on. Anyways, to even get in you need hours of volunteering, clinical experience, RESEARCH especially at your top 10 like Harvard. Its cool to have dreams though. Keep it up. But dream with your eyes open.
Graham Holloway Yeah, your right, just googled MCAT, and it comes after going into med school. Don't know why I put that it goes before... But anyway, I don't really believe i'll get in, but i'm still gonna try. I'm dual-enrolling at a college, and am using that to complete my high-school requirements, as well as getting my associates degree over with. Thanks to being able to choose my classes, I'll be able to graduate when I'm 15, which is two semesters from now. I'm also taking Honors Biology II at the college, and took Biology I (with lab) last semester. I've already done Chem 1 & 2, and am working on calculus and trigonometry this next semester. My cumulative weighted GPA is 4.56, and college is 3.9. As for research and volunteering, I volunteer 8 hours a week at Cleveland Clinic in Weston Florida, and have also participated in research and data collection with Dr. Shen, who is the head of the cardiovascular division in the same hospital. I am leaving to spend the summer at Tongi univerisity in Shanghai, where I have been invited to take language classes for four months. other than that, I took my SAT two years early, and got a 1900, though i'm going to take it again later on because I felt I was unprepared. But your really right. There's a lot better people than me out there trying to do the same thing. I know regular med school is hard, and getting into Harvard is even harder! But as I stated in my first comment, one must have hope right?

The girl in the video (Melanie Molina) looks so very different now. She looks quite a bit older with short hair, but is still cute in a way. She is now a resident in emergency medicine at Harvard.
Catty/spiteful much? I currently work with her in the hospital and she's as attractive as ever. The curious thing is what would prompt someone to post something like this publicly. Did you a) get turned down by her? b) struggle because you were 10-15% less attractive than her? c) struggle with insecurity? or d) all of the above? My guess is you're an HMS or resident peer, so you should be good at multiple choice questions. Take a moment, think about it, and answer the question. Then grow up.

If it's your dream then go for it but you have to know it's gonna be HARD that sometimes you'll regret choosing medecine but that only happens during finals ( for me, but after i fell a little ashamed of my self cuz it was my choice ) when you'll see that your friends got their degrees and already found a good job while you are still studying (and you will study for the rest of your life) you might regret it but if it's your dream you'll endure it every year it gets more complicated but you'll do fine :D
Jessica Xavier Not everybody there is for prestige and if it's your dream why give up on it, just because your uncle seems to have probems. Your uncle isn't only a doctor he have things going in his life idk but i'm sure that he dones't only have medecine in his life. So you're not going to have the same fate as him just by choosing medical studies, and if you ask your uncle he will tell you how happy you'll feel when you walk out of a surgery knowing that this person's life gonna change a little or a lot it doesn't matter or if you just diagnose a desease before it's too late and feel that you really saved a life or when people will thank you and that thank will be full of love and coming out of the deepest part of their heart, when a grandma will pray with you or when you can ease people pain or just reduce their fear just by holding their hand they will feel that you care. It's not always "la vie en rose" you will see people hopeless and you know that you can do nothing you'll see people in some critical state but they can't afford all the treatment and i wish i could help but i can't you'll see people take their last breath (and it's hard) you may do mistakes you're a human after all but you will feel like a hero if i may call it so when you walk out of your work knowing that you did something beautiful and great. this is why like being a medical student cause i know that i have the "power" to make a change.
