Man I miss Malaysia, back in 2008 i studied there whereas my whole family was in Australia besides my dad and lil sister. I love all the food and tourist attractions they have there. My dad would always take us road trips to Penang, langkawi, gingting island, Singapore and Thailand. I was v v lucky but home sick as I travelled alot.

@@yurironoue5888 thanks for explaining, in Indonesia we have street vendors who sell both "kue" (cake) apem and putu, both identical to the Indian appam and puttu. Never knew both snacks had indian roots, but shouldn't be surprised since Indonesia inherited a lot of its culture from India, thank you!

Doesn't matter where I go, I love trying different foods, even the same foods at different places. However, if I find myself abroad in any of these places DancingBacons has been, at least I'll have actionable Intel! Great stuff.

The first dish you tried is called Idiyappam. In Kerala, we eat it with stews made with a coconut milk base.
And the second dish Puttu is also originally from Kerala. We eat it either with sugar and bananas or with a savoury curry made with black chickpeas.
