Recently, I was tree stump grinding at Ugley, near Saffron Walden, Essex. The job was slightly different due to the fact that the tree stumps were on a bank, which made grinding slightly more awkward. However, the bank was not overly steep, so I was able to grind the tree stumps without too much difficulty. Fortunately, use a Predator radio remote stump grinder, which is on tracks, so it makes the job much easier than using a traditional pedestrian type stump grinder.
The two largest problems when grinding on a bank are to make sure that the machine is stable, so that it cannot tip over. In other words, approach the bank at the right angle, so that there is no danger of the stump grinder going over sideways. The other issue is the fact that when a stump grinder is being used on a gradient, you can lose the depth of the grind. If you’re grinding downhill, then you can potentially grind deeper, but it’s not always as simple as that when you are grinding a tree stump on a bank.
We are here to get to the root of the problem!
