I didn't mind eating McDonald's when it was quick and cheap hard to complain about a five-dollar meal what used to be the prices nowadays it's not worth it
18 bucks at a restaurant gets you better service better quality food and will fill you up. I’m not paying 18 bucks at a fast food joint for crappy food and barely any food at that.
I cant even do sit-down restaruants anymore. Quality control went out the window with covid and never came back, and service is so slow that often Im finished with my meal and left trapped there feeling like a prisoner just waiting on the check. The majority of restaruants used canned or instant foods but still want to charge fresh cooked prices. I had one restaurant argue with me over the price of a side of mashed potatoes refusing to refund me for it after I took one bite and instantly could taste that fake chemically taste of instant boxed potatoes.
$1.47 for a 5 pound bag of potatoes this week at Albertsons/Vons/Safeway.
ok, factor in cooking oil, labor, insurance, lease, paper product for food item, equipment cost, utilities, gas to get the item, shipping handling, cleaning items, etc, ok? Happy?
Its called a "LOSS LEADER" ... the store loses money to get you in store.. I guess a restaurant can server raw potatoes and cut down on cost right?
Pretty sure his point was that it's cheaper to buy food from a grocery store and cook it yourself. @@wolfyklip
For the same price or a few dollars more you can go to a neighborhood diner and get much better food.
Or you can cook at home for half the price.
The more people stop eating out then the more these corporations will feel it.
A big Mack meal costed 6$ back in the late 90s now it’s almost 20$
People don’t want to buy things that getting expensive?? SHOCKER!!
Well the sad part is if inflation is this bad and people literally can’t make it on one job and minimum wage is still $7.25 for over 15 years I see a lot of problems here
15-18 years ago a study showed single person working 40hrs needed an income of at least $11hrly. A few years later $15 hrly was required to support one person.
Sure genius. Just raise the wages and make the prices even higher and lose even more business. Time to start having robots make the food and get rid of the lazy bums who can't even can't out change.

Can't even can't out change you say?? Looks like you're the GENIUS who needs to be replaced by a robot.
@@MPM-yi1mj Do you have any idea how long McDonalds BEEN in business????
All of their restaurants should be paid off by now with minimal debt and maximum profit especially with constant inflated prices.
So HOW can they not afford to pay higher wages??
They’re bigger now as a whole than ever meaning they can get bigger discounts buying in bulk OR simply owning the suppliers and supply the food supplies themselves.
Companies WILL CHARGE WHATEVER people SUPPORT. And ppl are Sheep 🐑. Sheep support what they hate, like Low Wages, Inflation & Long work hours.
Americans love working for shit pay. That’s why they’re paid shit, corporations CANNOT pay what no one will accept, period.
CEO compensation has grown 940% since 1978
Typical worker compensation has risen only 12% during that time.
Ppl need to change their vocabulary of wanting a ‘ Living Wage ‘ to a ‘ SAVING WAGE’ ppl are in fact living, going to work for 💩 pay
We’re in an economy of Shrinkflation on top ‘ Skimpflation (cheaper quality ) on top of Inflation, on top of Taxation, on top of Tipflation, on top of Wage Stagnation.
Most people don’t have a spending problem they have an income problem yet, are still willing work for desperate/ shit pay, which ironically keeps them desperate for that shit pay and corporations exploit them knowing that.
Physical slavery required people to be housed and fed. Economic slavery requires people to house and feed themselves.
@@user-xn1ry8qg3nand now it’s $25
It’s cheaper and healthier cooking @ home hands down
And it always has been. Baffles me that my family will argue with me over the price of food and refuse to believe that fresh food from a grocery store is cheaper than fast food, even after I plop a plate down in front of them and show them a receipt.
The prices in canada are way more than the U.S. It is so not worth it and to top it all off the burgers a getting smaller.
Agreed I went to burger king and the whopper was tiny I almost asked for a refund
I no longer buy any fast-food. I cook at home and save money, and eat healthier. Until never McDonald's!! I don't have to use any apps to get lower prices. That's B.S.
Smart person. Same here. I learned to cook during Covid, and now I can make stuff so much cheaper. Burgers for us are patty melts about $2 bucks each, at home.
Good to see I'm not the only one avoiding getting ripped off 🙂
I can literally buy filet mignon for the same price as McDonalds and throw it in the broiler at home lol.
I've decided to stop eating at fast food restaurants and start cooking my own food at home. Fast food quality and service at fast food restaurants have deteriorated since COVID-19.
Fast food places aren't just raising the prices on the menu, they're also slightly shrinking their product while doing it. If you're going to raise your menu prices, please leave your product the way it was. We know when you've shrunken the portion size of what we order but shrunk in such a way so as to give us the illusion that it's the same size it's always been. You can't fool us, we know.
A few months ago I went to McDonald’s & ordered a cheeseburger w/ Bacon, a small fry & a drink! 🍔🍟🥤All these items at one point were on the dollar menu & would all cost you no more than $4 to $5 tops! I tell you no lie, the McDonald’s employee said “That’ll be $11.40” or something like that, I just immediately pulled off with no explanation & went to get REAL food for the same price & got more food at that! McDonald’s betrayed its core customers when we needed them most! McDonald’s has market cap of $211 Billion at the time of this post! They also have an annual revenue of over $23 billion a year. They make enough money & have enough money! No need to be greedy because you have to pay your workers a livable wage who make you the money day & night! Smh
Wasn't the $3 menu available for $1 a couple of years ago?
Used to get an 8 piece chicken dinner with 2 large sides and 4 biscuits for about $20. Now it's $35.
Yes the dollar menu
They still make millions in profits so giving employees a raise is not an excuse
Ive been cooking at home and i feel alot better and losing weight
Toxic food. Eat at home. Min wage increase is a sad excuse, maybe the CEO can sell one of their billion dollar homes and pay a proper working wage
Thats the thing fast food places are not set up to pay a living wage. Theres a reason its high school kids that worked at them or retired people. Up until the mid 00's.
It was intended to be starting out or extra money. It was never intended to be a full income for 95% of its employees.
even if a ceo takes a $1 a year salary and give it to all the employees .. that would be about $5 for each worker.... Plus most locations are franchises and they dont work for the big ceo guy
These companies Don't realize they could make so much money by just lowering the prices because foods already expensive and people would be buying a lot and they would end up making more money than if they charge so much then people don't wanna buy it at all
Exactly. People are going to see their restaurants and say F THEM and bail out of spite.
All the people complaining about fast food prices continue to go pay those prices……
That’s why I see more and more opting for locally owned deli or other quick eats food with cheap deals. There are some places all across the U.S. where they sell footlong sandwiches for under $5 with tax. $1-$1.50 pizza still exists in the U.S.
Good! my glad the prices are on the rise, a blessing in disguise, none of us should be eating this shit! on a regular basis!
Back in my day we ate out at a restaurant only a couple times a month. We had home cooked meals 7 days a week and it was considered a treat to eat out. Perhaps people need to get back to eating at home.
Dosnt help when there’s Uber eats , skip , door dash people just stay home and order in. People need to stop being lazy and cook for themselves
@@ryans413 ya? Do people enjoy paying for take out food, plus tax, plus delivery, plus tip?
I'd like them to site where they get their info because grocery prices up 1.3% is bs.
The last time I went to a MacDonalds was 2 years ago and it tasted like card board. Reminded myself why I haven't been there in a while.
McDonald’s also are giving you HALF a slice of cheese on their filet o fish sandwiches. How cheap could they be?!
Thought I was the only one this aggravated
They've been doing that for years though.
and they stopped filling up the fries all the way.
@@jerrynadler2883 That part.
That's nothing new. You were getting half a slice on their faux-fish sandwiches since the 90s.
After Covid, restaurant prices went up, and customer service went down, and we were expected to be patient with that because staffing was down. Three years later, I’m tired of paying inflated prices for poor service and an inconsistent product. We have a smaller list of restaurants we go out to where the service is good and the prices are reasonable and we cook at home more often.
There’s a local brewery I order from they actually have cheap food that’s good. They make small portion sizes it’s more of an appetizer for your alcohol but the food is good. Best chilli I’ve ever had same with the clam chowder they also have good sandwiches. I spent 15 bucks and got 15oz chilli a good sandwich a salad and a big glass of beer.
Right? Service is STILL bad and slow at the sit down restaurants. Can never go to a sit-down restaurant and spend less than two hours there. I often feel like a prisoner after I'm finished eating and sitting there twiddling thumbs waiting for the server to finally bring my check and beg for a tip.
make your own sandwich, it takes less than 5 min of prep work. And your body and wallet will thank you.
I know but it’s not as good 😫
I buy only special promos. I even bring my drink when I am out. I haven't bought combos in ages. No way. It's ridiculous.
This is the way. Always use the app and bring your own drink. Use the free fries deal, 2 mcdoubles or mcchicken for a total of $3.99. Combos are a waste of money you don't have to spend big at Mcdonald's.
Let’s look at the good side of this. We don’t have to spend money in buying food that’s making us sick with all the high processed meals they make. Instead we can go and buy groceries and make meals that are better for us.
NYC one cashier and manager stands in front of the counter. Lots of fast food chains. No customers in the dining room.
The other night my boyfriend and I went to Taco Bell looking for the $5 cravings box we would always get, only to be told the price of the same box deal skyrocketed to $15.. no thank you. 😞
Use the app and make new accounts it’s only $1
thats not the solution, why should anyone have to use a stupid app to get the same food cheaper!!!@@thehugeeuge1975
Ridiculous!
I can eat at a fast casual place for the same amount most times why would I spend the same at a fast food place.
They charge $3 for a hash brown and wonder why sales are down
Pure greed, hope they all shut down their unhealthy food nonsense
I’ve got an air fryer. I’m good
Pay more to destroy your health 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️😒😒
It's low grade chemical fast food unhealthy on all levels. Poison rat food with good taste.
It's junk food. It costs the restaurants less than healthy food, it's easier to make, and they charge almost double.
These companies are using wage increases as an excuse to raise prices but executives salaries have not gone down.
I rather pay a few dollars more for real food from A restaurant, there are still places that have reasonable prices especially locally owned businesses
Grocery prices up 1.3% last year??? Where!?!? I want to move there because it’s way over 13% in Vermont
Fast food prices have gone extremely crazy these days. For how much they charge, you can go to either a local sit-down restaurant, a diner, a food truck, or a sports bar & get yourself a nice, quality meal for around those same prices.
You can go buy a pound of ground beef from a grocery store or a supermarket (along with fries, hamburger buns & the fixin's; Assuming that you don't have them), & you'll be able to make *_a lot of_* hamburgers for around the same prices that fast food restaurants are charging for their combos.
Hell, I can even simply walk to my local hospital (which isn't too far from where I live), go to their cafe, & get myself decent, quality meals from there such as a hamburger & fries for a lot cheaper (& it'll only come up to $5.99 after tax). That's just how pathetic fast food are nowadays.
I got 3 lbs of ground beef. Pack of buns. Pack of cheese. Total 19 bucks. Made 11 burgers. When these companies start pulling this crap, i start making my own. Takes 10 mins. freeze them good to go.
I stopped eating at fast food places years ago as long as you pay for these high prices they’re gonna keep going up
41 year old here. I remember the 80s, 90s, early 2000s, and 2010s, when life didn't suck as much. I spent my 20s and 30s eating out all the time, when fast food wasn't so expensive. Ever since around Covid, these businesses have all been colluding with each other to price-gouge the consumer. We the people need to hit back at these greedy corporations posting record profits. Boycott is the way to go. I am using a catering service that delivers your food for the week to your front door. Healthier, cheaper, and I'm not supporting a greedy corporation.
I eat at home and save a boat load of $$$, plus a much much healthier diet!
Eggs buy eggs there cheap healthy and can be made in multiple ways and be eaten for every meal breakfast lunch dinner.
Higher prices with terrible service I see why
I stopped eating at McDonald's years ago when their prices were getting unreasonably high.
I spent $19 on six tacos and two drinks at taco bell. Each taco only contained about 1 teaspoon of meat and nothing else. No lettuce, no tomato, no cheese, no sour cream or onions. I took $19 to the grocery store and purchased everything needed to make 15 tacos that had all of those ingredients. I'll never buy fast food again unless the prices become reasonable.
So why did you only ask for meat?
I had a quarter pounder and small fries, about 15 fries, $13 , couple weeks ago, never eat there again, it was crap
I am not sure which is worse, that someone ordered carbs on top of carbs with a $5 cup of liquid sugar to wash it down, or that you have to explain how basic economics works to adults
There’s a ton of different ways to eat keto at fast food places. Don’t assume everyone goes to fast food restaurants for only carbohydrates and sugar drinks. Lots of healthy eaters enjoy food away from home too.
To be fair, that cup of liquid sugar is mostly melted ice water.
I ordered two cheesy breads from Domino's. Delivery. $42.00. Deleted the app. This is highway robbery. I can't afford what all of these places are charging now days. I'll make dinner myself at home. Hell, a few years ago I could go out for a sit down dinner and pay much less than this. Just ridiculous.
What did folks think would happen when Democratic Governor Newsom imposed a mandatory wage for fast food workers to $20 a hour? There is still benefits and workman's comp insurance to be paid as well. Already seen cashier positions eliminated, kiosk ordering only.
If anything, this is great that more people's eyes are being opened to the fact that these companies don't give two shits about either their workers or customers. The American worker and consumer is a dollar sign and nothing more.
McDonalds offers benefits?
This is a nationwide issue, not just California.
Oh wow!! Who would have imagined?!?! 🙄😒
I hope they get the message and lower the prices back to reasonable levels. I understand inflation is a thing, but they definitely blew it out of proportion to gouge customers.
some people like being 'gouged' lol
Do you seriously think all fast food companies suddenly realized in 2024 that they can simply increase prices to gouge customers? The increase in price is due to recent increases in minimum wage. The company can either choose to pass costs onto customers or fix prices, bleed money, and die.
Right? It's been almost a year since I noticed any major changes to my grocery bill, but these fast food restaurants would have you believe inflation is still running rampant.
These fast-food corporation forgot that customers are the lifeblood of their business but seems like greed is more good to them.
I've found our local chains have much better prices than the big nationwide ones and generally have better quality food as well.
Good, boycott them and make it go viral on social media. Shouldn't have taken this long... consumers need to realize they have the power to keep these big companies in check. They hate negative publicity on social media and they certainly don't like when people speak with their wallets. If they want to increase profits they need to sell more not charge more.
That's what I am doing. No more fast food for me, unless the coupons are awesome (like BOGO). And, I just google, "Copycat Recipe for XYZ", and I cook everything at home.
