Manichitrathazhu was remade in four languages - in Kannada as Apthamitra which in turn was remade in Tamil as Chandramukhi , in Bengali as Rajmohol and in Hindi as Bhool Bhulaiyaa But really Mohanlal Sir really nailed it 💥
I never liked the tamil and hindi remake. Directing manichithrathazu again in other language is not an easy task. It reflect the life of malayalis. I don't care about what anybody else says but malayalam films are the best. ❤

Ganga suffers from split personality, now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder. Ganga suffered mentally and emotionally in her childhood days and adolescence due to separation from her parents and later from her grandmother and that was very traumatic for her. Later, when she heard of how Nagavalli was separated from her lover Ramanathan forever, she empathises with Nagavalli so much that she becomes Nagavalli at times. 2. Her second personality thus becomes Nagavalli and that is the dominant personality in this case but Ganga isn’t aware of this. 3. Slowly, she learns Tamil (which was Nagavalli’s native language), learns from a leaflet that Aahiri Ragam is Nagavalli’s favourite ragam (and hence a good part of the songs and the bgm is composed in that ragam), she grows fond of their neighbour who her dominant personality thinks is her long-lost lover Ramanathan because this neighbour lives in the house Ramanathan used to live. 4. There is no ghost in the original movie. It is the story of a woman who has two personalities and Shobana Mam’s Ganga is a friendly and sweet one while Nagavalli is vindictive. Her eyes and eyebrow movements, gestures, style of walking, etc. are different for both personalities. Also, in the scene, where she breaks a pot and the clock, it is employing telekinesis and in one scene, it is clear that she even holds a small stone in her hand. There’s a scene where the dominant personality subdues the weaker one, where she states, “Vidamatte…..?”. After the dance, they bring her to a “tantric kalam” on Durgashtami day because Ganga grew up adoring folklores and such fantastic kalams and Nagavalli thinks that the evil patriarch killed her lover on that day. Hence, the plan of subduing the dominant personality and giving it what it wants forever can happen only on Durgashtami, or else the dominant personality will take charge for ever (similar to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a classic novel by R.L. Stevenson).
But for me Our Sandalwood Queen Soundarya madam's acting was the best and the song also ❤🙏🎶 and then I love Bhool Bhulaiya's Vidya Balan madam and mere dolna song ❤😌

@@souryajio In the original movie, viewers got to see a psychological thriller. It is clearly explained by the psychiatrist (played by Mohanlal sir) in the Malayalam version.
1. Ganga suffers from split personality, now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder. Ganga suffered mentally and emotionally in her childhood days and adolescence due to separation from her parents and later from her grandmother and that was very traumatic for her. Later, when she heard of how Nagavalli was separated from her lover Ramanathan forever, she empathises with Nagavalli so much that she becomes Nagavalli at times.
2. Her second personality thus becomes Nagavalli and that is the dominant personality in this case but Ganga isn’t aware of this.
3. Slowly, she learns Tamil (which was Nagavalli’s native language), learns from a leaflet that Aahiri Ragam is Nagavalli’s favourite ragam (and hence a good part of the songs and the bgm is composed in that ragam), she grows fond of their neighbour who her dominant personality thinks is her long-lost lover Ramanathan because this neighbour lives in the house Ramanathan used to live.
4. There is no ghost in the original movie. It is the story of a woman who has two personalities and Shobana Mam’s Ganga is a friendly and sweet one while Nagavalli is vindictive. Her eyes and eyebrow movements, gestures, style of walking, etc. are different for both personalities. Also, in the scene, where she breaks a pot and the clock, it is employing telekinesis and in one scene, it is clear that she even holds a small stone in her hand.
Sometime before the climax, we understand that she wants to kill her own husband (Ganga’s husband) because the dominant personality associates him with the cruel patriarch who once killed her lover. There’s a scene where the dominant personality subdues the weaker one, where she states, “Vidamatte…..?”. That one scene is enough to win her a national award because to show a transformation of a personality to another in an era where very little was known about mental health is huge! After the dance, they bring her to a “tantric kalam” on Durgashtami day because Ganga grew up adoring folklores and such fantastic kalams and Nagavalli thinks that the evil patriarch killed her lover on that day. Hence, the plan of subduing the dominant personality and giving it what it wants forever can happen only on Durgashtami, or else the dominant personality will take charge for ever (similar to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a classic novel by R.L. Stevenson).
All are masterpiece couse they have emotions ❤
Original is always original and also shobana ma'am didn't have any reference to bring that character to life unlike others
