Great to see a review of this on Jason! I really enjoy Deanston and was curious about this one...
About the label, I think what they mean is that the Tequila on the cask was from the 100% Agave type instead of the normal Tequila that can receive up to 49% of the fermentable sugars from others sources.

You need to try high quality sipping Tequila. Not the ones that are loaded with additives. Try G4, Fortaleza, El Tesoro, Tequila Ocho. Real Tequila won’t have the artificial sweetness, diffusers, too young plants, added sugar, added color, bad process methods.

I live in an area where Tequila runs rampant and I don't mind a shot of it here and there, but not in my whisky.
The only two Tequila finished whiskies I've tried are Sagamore Spirit and Stranahan's Diamond Peak. In both cases the finishings were overpowering.

Dewar's "Ilegal Smooth" 8 year old … good salty smoke note coming from the mezcal finish. Good for the price. Thanks

    Hi Jason
I personally wouldn't buy this bottle because I'm a scotch fan, and I don't like tequila. I just wanted to let others know how much I love deanston whiskey, however I have to buy it from the whiskey exchange, and the problem with that is there prices are ridiculous in the first place, and then there's the shipping, $68.00 per bottle, that's right per bottle!! Don't get me wrong they have to make a living, but that's ridiculous, I bought a bottle of caol ila 9 year old from them and when I got the bottle, it had leaked off from bottle, and I lost about an ounce, the problem was that the container was nasty from the leak, now I'm afraid to get another bottle from them. I don't mind the price for the whiskey, but the shipping & handling is crazy, I love your reviews and watch everything you do, what is your advice on the issue, cheers brother and keep the great reviews coming !!!

How do you judge a whisky on a pour that size? Doesn't seem like you've given it a chance.

Kilchoman have experimented with tequila finish releases. It was over a year ago so I don't remember much other than not knowing what to expect from the tequila input. I had to ask twice because the answer I was seeking was subtly buried inside the spiel. I was nonplussed--unperturbed rather than perturbed/disconcerted.

    Hello!
Cheaper tequila is not made from 100% agave, it has at least 51% agave and the rest various grains, only the best quality is made from 100% blue agave

Lol, Jason, "rare (not so much, but still) & exotic (there you have it, can't be more exotic, except maybe a Baïju finish ? 😅) whiskies", there we have it....I'm like you, Jason, I can count also on one hand how much time I tried pure Tequila (recently somebody send me some samples, so we'll see !), but I like some Mezcal & have a decent but not more than that bottle, and tried some amazing & expensive ones, but do I wanna try this when I heard of it ? No...Now do the blender in me could be interested to work on the influence of Mezcal on some kind of Scottish whiskies, maybe, but there are way more stuff I'll be interested to try before that....Nice color tube, but tbh, it comes across like they wanna hook Tequila fans or non-connoisseurs of whisky but then would it be good for mixing ? This is terrible price to do cocktails, right ? So I hope it is not the first of other crazy finishes....anyway thanks for the "sacrifice", there !
