    If you don't want to pop any of your plastic pieces off, you can also run the power wire from the battery under the car along the brake line avoiding the exhaust.

    When using a hole saw on metal, take the saw of the arbor and just use the pilot bit to get started. That way, when you pop through with the pilot, the saw doesn't slam into the surface at full speed and bend the pilot. Then put the saw back on and put the drill on slow. Leaving it on high will heat up the metal and may even harden it.
    Your hole saw and pilot will last a lot longer and it will be easier to drill clean holes.

    Awesome work/video. Super helpful! Any idea what the towing capacity is on this trailhawk now? Does it get the around 4,000 lbs because the trailhawk has the same components as the "tow package"? (engine cooler, transmission cooler, same size breaks) Am I missing anything here? can't seem to find a credible answer.

What I could never understand, none of the added equipment delt with beefing up the suspension, so how do you get an additional 200lbs tongue weight?

    My Grand Cherokee has a factory harness under the back bumper. You just need to plug in the appropriate harness connection for your trailer and then use AlfaOBD to activate the factory harness.

    • @johnviera3884
      @johnviera3884 6 месяцев назад

      @@paul-stephendouglas5252 look up this Alpha OBD software. you need a special OBD connector that plugs in under the dashboard. The software is like $40 and the OBD connector is like $15. I found it works better with an android tablet. Then you need to use the software to activate the trailer lights option. or you can go to the dealer and pay them to do it. They wanted $250 for mine. But the AlphaOBD software is great for any other issues you might have in the future. It’s a way to hack into the computer without having to pay the dealer. There is a bunch of Alpha OBD tutorial videos on RUclips.
      my friend just borrowed my android tablet and OBD connector to fix the air ride suspension on his 2017 Dodge ram pick up truck. 👍🏽

    • @Boxboywrx
      @Boxboywrx 3 года назад +2

      The "brake controller" is an optional addition that would have to be purchased separately and is only needed if your trailer has its own brakes. so if you do not have a break controller the blue wire will not be connected.

      This was installed on a 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk and we did not need to reprogram anything. I would not doubt a reprogram would be needed on the 2020 since it is a newer model but I am not sure I would conduct some research online first.

    you said 41mm... there is no such thing ... a 1-1/2" circular is 38mm, and a 1-3/4" circular is 44mm... but even using the 1-3/4" circular, how the heck did you fit the 7-pin plug through the hole? It was not possible. Better to feed the harness FROM BELOW as you only need to feed smaller lines and then fit the rubber plug on nice and tight.

      I have a 2015 Cherokee trailhawk and put the Mopar hitch receiver on. But have been somewhat confused on how much it'll tow. I've seen 2000lbs and then 4500lbs with a tow package. I even called a dealership and he was unsure. He was saying the same thing I looked up online. That's a 2500 difference. I don't want to try to pull 3500lbs if it's only 2k. That's a big risk.

    Spoke to Jeep Dealer Yesterday, they said the cable had to be tied into some kind of module under the hood. And needed to be programmed to recognize the wires and make the lights and everything work from the back to the front..
    Cost just for the programming was going to be $170 even though I said I was able to wire everything up to under the hood.. (taking the knowledge from your video and a couple others.)
    Said also that even if I was to go get the U-Haul hitch and wiring installed that I would still need to come to the dealer in order for their work to be completed..
    Anyone know anything about this?
