Hi Dan.Good to see that you are flying our Dash -8 aircraft,I hope you had a great flight.I am one of your followers on RUclips and am based in South Africa-I am an employee at Fly CemAir - Engineering/Maintenance department (MRO) . The patch on the fuselage ( 4:21 ) is a kevlar ice protection panel, ice from the number 1 engine blades can form and then be flung off onto the fuselage. This panel protects the fuselage from being damaged.Keep doing the great videos, they are inspiring ,entertaining and are educational, I enjoy them . I am sure you noticed how beautiful South Africa is and you have only seen a small part of the country, hope you will visit the country next time and explore other provinces and game reserves .I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New year.
Having flown the DHC8-200 in my early career I just picked up my iPad to explain to Daniel about the ice protection panel but glad to Mduduzi has done it already.
I knew it was not a safety hazard. They South African Aviation bodies are very strict with safety and maintenance and I highly doubt that a fix that wouldn’t suffice would have been passed. This is such great insight. Thanks for sharing the context.
I did w8 till the kiddies opened there prezzies b4 watchin this but nw I'm in me man cave watchin, daniel really is serious💪💪, jus because crimbo fell on a sunday doesn't mean we dont get a vid 😬👍 great stuff merry Christmas ashville team🎅🎅
Just want to say a big THANK YOU to Daniel and Ashville for the past year of Ashville Weekly - I discovered Ashville a year ago today when I was at home in isolation at Christmas because of CVid - I binge watched all the episodes and it got me through a tough time. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🙏
Beautiful show for anyone who's interested in machinery, business and overall genuine characters going by their day . I've watched all episodes in a few days and that says it all. Thanks
The remote area Daniel visited is in the old Transkei, now the Eastern Cape. It is rural and beautiful. There is a big N2 highway project going on in the area. This is where I come from. If I had known Daniel, I could have made an attempt to meet him in person while he was there. Thank you for visiting and sharing your expertise with the local engineers.
Companies/people need to understand that Ashville has certain protocols in place and there are designated individuals to handle their inquiries be consistent with redirecting them to the necessary employees who can assist them with their needs. Thank you for taking the time to share the beautiful scenery with us. Side note good sir it defeats the purpose of having a security detail when you're hanging out of the vehicle. Happy holidays to you and the team.
Daniel - A trick to driving those "old trucks" is that to get them in gear, once you have depressed the clutch down and moved the gear lever to the postion you need, you have to let the clutch up a bit which allows the gears to turn a little and the lever will then easily drop into position. If you don't do this, despite your huge muscles, you'll never get it into gear!!!! Ask me how I know and I never had your size muscles😀
Fantastic that you have the utmost confidence in your team to carry on. They seem keen on not letting you down too. Edit: Also, thank you for showing another view of South Africa. We don't get to see the lovely parts and the locals enjoying life, just the portions that the news sensationalize.
Nice one Will. Looks like you organised that network nicely. Doing some VLAN stuff atm but found out my switches don't passthrough i.e. 802.1q. Home automations looking nice and being in the DevOps profession feels kinda nice having an organised network so can relate. Learningit a bit late at 30 so its amazing to see a younger setup something liek that.
Thank you for all the entertaining videos in 2022 - watching this after having my Christmas lunch and just before the Kings speech. Merry Christmas to all Daniel and all the Ashville staff. ❤❤
Hello Daniel, On Wed 7 Dec I liked your reference to traffic on the long road commute home 😊 So good to see you with a fellow supporter in S. Africa, and can only hope to meet you one day in Old London Town too 😊❤ Lessons from a Christmas Tree: "Be a light in the darkness. We all fall over sometimes. You can never wear too much glitter. Bring joy to others. Sparkle and twinkle as often as possible. It's okay to be a little tilted". Merry Christmas Daniel, and family; also to one and all at Ashville and associates, as well as to all the Ashville supporters 😊 Take Care Daniel 😊❤
Daniel and the Ashville team it has a been a JOY watching all the videos and can't wait for 2023 to start. You have superb team around you and i wish use all a HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR and a SPECIAL thankyou to your MUM she is a legend.
Dude said they are “BBQing” we don’t BBQ in South Africa, WE BRAAI! Get it right! I’m glad you didn’t compromise on safety. South Africa is kinda like London, not safe. Greetings from Austria. 🇦🇹
@@goergetobias7206 Paris is not safe either. The countries I can bet on as safe are Switzerland, Iceland, Austria, New Zealand, UAE, Singapore. And for me safe means I can go about my business at all times not worried about my safety. I would never classify Paris as safe, everyone knows the robberies that happen there. Neither is London safe. There are safe countries and Cities. Maybe you may say there aren’t any Utopias.
Great video and thanks for the content! I also like the explanation of Will about the home cinema and the networking part of it. Would be nice to get more in depth with setting it up but don't know if the current viewers like it. Could be content for another Ashville related channel.
22:06. i have a lot of admiration for Daniel. he has brought his company from the ground up and is doing an amazing job. however, all the troubles he is having with people calling him when they should be calling the people he has put in place is really down to the man himself. from the start, he has taken on the responsibility of not only running his business, but doing everything himself. what he should have done from the start is hire several managers to take half a dozen jobs from him. so whilst i feel for him, Daniel Louisy is his own worst enemy. but, he is still doing a damn good job, he just needs to delegate some of the senior roles to people who also know what they are doing and are in their roles because they have worked for years to get there?
I also think you should have retained your artics - and just reconfigured the combos and use them slightly differently in your business. Articulated trucks are my favourite big rig combo and are versatile. But you are correct, some business decisions are always difficult to make. Catch 22s are tricky.
Well put Mduduzi. Aviation enthusiast myself and learnt something there. Also couldn't have put your insight on beautiful South Africa any better than that so Daniel take this as yet another invitation & hope to have you back here soon. You'll love it. Meanwhile, the suspense from all this secret filming is killing us. Can't wait for the big reveal of your new passion and particularly looking forward to the South African feature. Spoke too soon last week - I guess that satellite phone would have come in handy after all😄😄. Who knew you would be deep beyond Margate. That was quite a surprise.
There’s a company called Silvester engineering just down the road from BPH that do hydraulic ram repairs. They’ve always been very good on pricing for me in the past.
Hi, I love the channel and admire your work. As a customer of contracting firms, could I suggest on the point of people calling you not the correct staff member, rather than replying to the customer you should get the correct staff member to call the customer and introduce themselves this would start the new correct relationship...
Merry Christmas 🎅 Ashville Family I hope you having a blessed day, and also don't forget to count your blessings knowing that you have roof over your head
Merry Christmas everyone! Watching Ashville 🖤💛 whilst I cook👩🏽🍳! Hope everyone is well and healthy and has a lovely week off, enjoying the company of loved ones. Remember the reason for this season. ❤️✨️

Working in aviation as well. Was searching for a comment like yours explaining the patch. Happy that I found it.
Mduduzi, Mfowethu, please start your own channel as well, your explanation above is informative and appreciated, I'm sure we shall follow

I’m wondering what you’re filming for the tv show in South Africa, so excited to watch when it airs and I’m so happy to see my country represented🇿🇦
I'm sure it's the construction of the Mthentu Bridge, for the N2 Coastal Toll Road project in Mbizana, Eastern Cape
