    A suggestion for future videos: On trains with multiple classes, it'd be great to show the cost of other classes on the same train at time of booking. Take this trip for example. The 2nd class ticket was $19 Euros. With 1st class seats mostly empty, I'm now wondering how much more the 1st class ticket would be. It's useful information for those of us who don't live around the area of the trains in the videos.

    I've done that walk between stations. Lille seems like a cool place! Back in '08 me and my brother were scheduled to take the Eurostar from London to Paris, but the channel tunnel had a fire that shut down service so it turned into a series of train/ferry, ferry/train, and train/train connections to get to Paris!

    I love the interior of that train. Nice to see that companies would actually hire designers to make it look so classy and elegant. Trains are by far my favourite way to travel, especially compared to the multitudes of inconveniences in our supposedly modern air services. By the way, I like how you also incorporated that small train graphic to show your location as you walked down the cars. Great idea!

    The tricurrent Reseau, a personal favorite of mine! First class seat is really good: wide, plushy, perfect for cocooning, and the table is simply the best in the industry.
    As for exterior looks, it's sad that SNCF chose quite low quality stickers to apply the carmillon red gradients on the livery. It just wears off so quickly.
    Oh, and 320km/h capability for an almost 30yo train. Not too shabby! 😎

    Btw: I recently found out about the DB's fastest ICE. It is the ICE S (S for speed) with Vmax 400 km / h. It is not available for the standard service but for the technical service of the DB (collecting measurements on the track and the overhead wire for high speed trains). It can reach its top speed on the high-speed route between Leipzig and Berlin. The train has already been to Austria and Switzerland to take measurements there as well. - Heinz

    • @Eurobazz
      @Eurobazz 3 года назад +3

      Unfortunately, the USA will never catch up to European standards. You'll see an improvement under Biden and Buttigieg but they will only be able to scratch the surface. You need to start by having all the freight railroad companies relinquish control of the rail infrastructure and place it under the administration of a private/public organisation. Work can then begin on upgrading tracks with concrete sleepers etc so that Amtrak can maximise speed limits. The addition of more passing loops could also be considered.

    • @FalconsEye58094
      @FalconsEye58094 3 года назад

      Barry F The tracks need to somehow be acquired by the states and pieces put together. When that happens things can make sense and priority given to passengers

    • @Eurobazz
      @Eurobazz 3 года назад +1

      @@FalconsEye58094 Why the states? Why can't the Federal government play a leading role? The BNSF, CSX etc tracks cross state lines so it makes more sense for Washington DC to control the operation.

    • @FalconsEye58094
      @FalconsEye58094 3 года назад +1

      Barry F Looking at how hard it is to get funding for Amtrak, I’m not sure it would be any easier getting them to play a role in buying the tracks out from all those guys. At least states have their own more functioning governments who can get the ball rolling

      Easier said than done when both the city and the rail network grow over time and trade offs have to be made. While the Lille situation is not ideal, in this case it looks like they are just down the street from each other, making the walk not much more onerous than if your coach is at the far end of a platform in a really long train. A people mover would be great though.

    Hmm I'm not a big fan of the style. It does look a bit outdated and not suited for high speed. I much prefer the classy style of Thalys or the futuristic Eurostar.

    I hate these sliding forward seat. The design is horrible. You have to sacrifice your legs space for some recline angle.
