Thanks for the input! Key is -don't tell the wife!! 😂 Even with the powder and fuse it is a pretty stable item. Heat and flame are a no no. It's 100% safe now! Thanks for dropping in!!
Thanks HR Appreciate the view and the comment!! World is to serious these days and I found that part to be funny as heck!! Cracked me up so I went with it!!
Awesome cannonball Ron! Congrats on the other relics too! Hope you didn’t throw a Budweiser can down in the hole! LOL! Have a good one! See you next time my friend!
Glad you enjoyed it! I just post em up and if people enjoy it then that is a nice bonus! Tough to make good finds to keep ya all interested!! Happy New Year!
Right on Dewey! Appreciate the view and comment! Yours will pop out when least expecting it. This one was not even a thought and then BANG - there it was! As you could tell I was pretty jazzed up about that one!!
Steven, I definitely was appreciative of that one coming out of the ground!! Really enjoyed that thrill! Everyone in this hobby deserves a thrill like that at some point. Thanks for the view and the comment!
Oh Yeah Ron ! Congrats buddy, great start right there :) Let me know if you need someone to take care of it for you and drill it. Congrats again :) ATB - David
Thanks David- appreciate you stopping in and for the offer. I contacted PG and spent couple hours with him to make sure it was washed out thoroughly. The end of that video had a little truth built in!! LOL
Hey Gold Shark !! Virginia is treating us well in many aspects. The hobby was just a shift in mind set and I'm back to having a blast just digging whatever will pop out of the ground!! Appreciate the view and the comment!
Hey Michael. On my custom program using the General program as the foundation it hit 81-82. On the High Conductor program it would hit a couple higher 83-85. Thanks for stopping by!!
What’s your location? I live down on the Mobile Tensaw Delta in South Alabama and our Blakeley State Park is down here on the water. No metal detecting on property, but many locals will let you scan their yard and properties in the surrounding area. I’ve got tons of bullets, buttons, belt buckles, etc. over the years. This place is still full of goodies:)
Hey Sean thanks for stopping by. I am in the Richmond Virginia area. A lot of knockings on doors and chatting with people So many relic hunters around here make it a challenge!! The first response on got on this property was a NO but after about 15-20 minutes of chatting he gave us the green light!! Sounds like you are in a good area!! Good luck!!
Nice cannonball Ron. A great way to start 2023. I live in Pensacola, Florida and we did have three Civil War Fort and they fired a lot of cannons. When they start digging up roads there are a lot people watching for cannonballs. The city keeps the cannons they did up.
Thanks Marvin! Appreciate the view and comment!! I'm sure plenty of people are tracking the dirt movement in those areas!! Same in this area!! Dirt moves and the relic gremlins come out!! 🤣
Thanks for dropping in. I just had it in a bucket of water but in reality it is pretty stable as it was. Flash point of black power is over 560 degrees F. Friction and drilling were the biggest concerns. Slow is the key and keep the drill bit cool
That is a great ball, 18 inch that is great. What program do you use with the Deus 2, I am still hunting for my fist civil bullet. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Hey DDS--thanks for stopping by and for the comment! I run a custom program based of the D2 GENREAL program. A few adjustments to reactivity, audio, silencer etc but the GERNERAL will dig you good stuff as is. Or the HIGH CONDUCTIVITY Program. Where ya at? I can put you on a bullet pretty quick!! LOL
Hey VT-L-- Yep the ball is fused and and still had the powder in it! It is filled with lead balls and black powder! Or was anyways! 100% safe now!! Thanks for the view and comment!
Oh man, I loved seeing the look on your face when you first held that cannonball up. That button is definitely interesting, hope you do some research to find out where and who made it. 🤔 Thanks for sharing with us. - Dave
Talk about a start to a new year. I was beginning to wonder if it was another Bud can.... lol. Congratulations on this dig. My guess for the eagle would be a guidon pole with a flag of some sort. Really cool find no matter what it is from. Happy huntin and keep the videos coming. Alan in Ca.
Thanks for the input on that Eagle! Pretty cool relic. Wish it was in a bit better shape but I like it! Another Bud can would have been the end to me after that big root!!!! Thanks for the view and comment!
Nice!
Your eagle looks like a flagpole topper and I don't think my wife would let me bring that cannonball in the house with that fuse in it... Lol
Thanks for the input! Key is -don't tell the wife!! 😂
Even with the powder and fuse it is a pretty stable item. Heat and flame are a no no.
It's 100% safe now! Thanks for dropping in!!

NICE WORK MAN! new Sub From another digger!
Thanks LBR I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to post up a comment! Thx for the sub!! Happy New Year!!
Congrats on your cannonball find. I suspect its very rare to find one with the charge still inside. So it's unexploded ordinance.
SL-- yep Unexploded. The fuse didn't catch or it was simply a dud and flew right over the intended target and just waited for me!! 😁
Wooo hooo HAPPY NEW YEAR...
That's right!! WoooHooo for sure. Thanks for taking a peek and posting up a comment!
Very cool 😎

Great find, Ron! What did you say that cannonball came up as an 85 on the Deus II? Congratulations, buddy!
Hey Michael. On my custom program using the General program as the foundation it hit 81-82. On the High Conductor program it would hit a couple higher 83-85. Thanks for stopping by!!

Thanks David!! That thrill is what keeps me doing this great hobby!! An old dude acting like a young kid with a new toy!! 🤪
Awesome finds! What is the best/safest way to store the cannon ball till you were able to get it defused?
Thanks for dropping in. I just had it in a bucket of water but in reality it is pretty stable as it was. Flash point of black power is over 560 degrees F. Friction and drilling were the biggest concerns. Slow is the key and keep the drill bit cool
@RonSwensonRelicAdventures thank you! That is what I've heard so I keep an extra 5 gallon bucket in the truck and hoping to get lucky lol.
