Thanks for sharing some great adventures my first machine was a Garrett ground hog back in 78 enjoyed watching you guys pull out the good stuff I know how it feels 😁👍
It's 5:52pm July 31,2024. Just amazing, all those confederate buttons. Usually all I see in videos are the Union eagles. That's a rare spot, a Hot spot . Way to go!😮
Hey Marv- I appreciate you dropping in on that video and glad you enjoyed it! That was a great site. Houses going up soon. We had a great time and I think close to 200 confederate buttons came out of there!! Maybe more. We only got about a week of the prime time and then our host kinda pulled the invitation. We have been back since and dug a few more!! Thank you for taking the time to post a comment!
I hate real estate development and everything that goes along with it. All those relics and countryside concreted over forever. Animals losing habitat. Ronnie Van Zant wrote a song about that. Sorry to ramble about it. Anyway, love what you all are doing. From Indiana good luck
I hear you on that!! Tons of good stuff lost forever with no chance of recovery!! First, Ronnie has a great name but was a excellent song writer and performer If you don't' love Skynyrd something wrong with ya!! 😀 Never saw Ronnie live but have caught the modern Skynyrd a couple times!!
Hey TD89--yep I finally escaped! LOL Appreciate you dropping in and posting up a comment! Been fortunate to find a few goodies in my new State! Hope to continue to get out a bit more! Take Care!
I found a Canon ball near fort Oglethorpe Georgia about thirty years ago still have I wasn't even looking i was dipping where an old building stood and found it it's in remarkable condition
Thanks for the info. I know Leonard and he is absolutely the best-- a bit slow but the best!! He has done a couple restorations for us!! His silver Miner Medallion is from one of our buckles! Thx for dropping in!
Nice! I have a Louisiana Tiger Rosette with a pelican on it, I have never seen another one like it. The Tigers crossed my property to a big battle and they also fought here on my land but I found the rosette over a mile away. I have found a lifetime of stuff in a little over 2 years. My collection even amazes me.
Thanks Steven, Appreciate you stopping by and checking out a few of the videos! That was a fun video to put together! Even more fun finding it all!! LOL
Thanks 👍 Appreciate the comment FwF !! Just our turn I guess! Been very fortunate lately but also know it can turn off very quickly so just appreciating it while it lasts!!
Hey Chris--thanks for the view and the comment. I hear stories of the old days!! Unfortunately I wasn't in VA during those times! I'm just trying to find a few leftovers!! Happy Easter!
Hey David, its not only you. I too am amazed that you can still get on hot spots that have not been pounded to death. Long story on this site that maybe I can share someday. Thanks for dropping in and taking the time to post up a comment!
Hey Ron awesome hunt, y'all racked it up on the Confederate buttons and all the other stuff,I enjoyed the video. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Merry Christmas my friend
Thanks Terry-always happy to see you drop in and post up a comment! We had a blast the last few weeks but all good things come to an end-or at least slow down a bit. I should have another video with a few decent goodies soon. Maybe not 10 confederate buttons but a neat tidbit or two! Merry Christmas to you and the family!!
You got that right Joe! Appreciate you stopping by and thank you for the comment! Gotta get em when you can! LOL This spot will be homes before you know it.
Thanks James! Appreciate the view and the comment! Trying to get out as much as possible since Sept. Been pretty fortunate with some permission and friends inviting us to good sites!
Hey Marvin--Thanks so much for the comment and thanks for the view!! I enjoy reading and replying to the comments! Just another fun aspect of the hobby and RUclips!! Another benefit of a small channel. I can stay active with the viewers.
Nice I need to invest in a metal detector since I live in NC and there's stuff everywhere, and I've spent a good amount of money on buttons, but worth it.
Hey John, Thanks for stopping by and posting up a comment! Go for it my man! It is a great hobby! Especially if you know locals where you can get permissions. Get a few good permission and then call me!! hahahaha !! I'm in Charlotte 1-2 time a month.
@@RonSwensonRelicAdventures I live by Bennett place in Durham and was even thinking all those surrounding woods solider had to march through, there might be something somewhere, were people camped out during the last signing of the Civil War, then Hillsborough would be a cool spot a lot of history there, I have the NC military institute button of Charlotte, ran by DH hill it's a cool one I did a video on it
Thanks again Rob!! We have been fortunate on the last few hunts but not sure we will have access to that site again. Fun while it lasted tho!! Appreciate the view and comment!
you guys are the only hunters that seem sad when u dig a civil war eagle button maybe their not as cool as I think they are just a little confused God bless you guys and your families my friends
Hey Mike, I apologize for being a relic snob!! It is all a mindset based on where we are. We have been hunting a confederate site so hoping for that confederate brass and the union stuff is a bit of a let down in this site. I know it is pretty bad to act disappointed. But put me in a Union site and I am expecting Eagle buttons and then they are more exciting. Kind of like digging a modern silver in a colonial site. I love silver regardless but just hoping for older silvers! Guess we come off as spoiled at times!! Will try to be a bit less of a relic snob because any Civil War button or relics is a great score! Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by and taking the time to post up a comment.!!
@@RonSwensonRelicAdventures buddy I didn't mean to make you think I thought you was a relic snob I just thought maybe they just was more common than the other ones I would never judge u like that but ty for taking the time to explain it to me I really did enjoy your video and u now have a new subscriber ty again and God bless you and your family my friend
Man awesome video and has got to be fun to be in an area to dig cw stuff let alone Confederates stuff often. I get lucky every now and then and find some cw stuff at homesite but not like that man. Awesome stuff keep it up
Right on Dewey!! We are just in a lucky spot. I don't expect this to continue for long. But I just enjoy the hobby so as long as I am digging I am having fun. Won't lie tho--fun to dig confederate stuff!! hahaha
Nice video with some great finds. Wondering if you have done research on the area of your findings. Perhaps a battle was fought there or maybe our confederate brothers had an encampment there or the like. It would be great if you could tie some additional history to the treasure trove of your findings
Hey Kevin, I am now in the Richmond VA area. The entire area was a "battlefield" When I moved here and asked where I should hunt people just told me ANYWHERE!! This particular area is inside the Richmond defenses so mostly Confederate stuff in this area. A known Confederate encampment. Was fortunate to get on it but all good things must come to an end I guess! Thanks for the comment.
Hey Brandon--Thanks for stopping by. A lot of people were late to the party. I was late to the party but managed a few goodies!! People had been out there for 6 months prior to us getting permission for a few days.
Just curious....why don't you first spray those buttons and other finds with water to loosen the dirt rather than brushing them. Seems to me the water would help reveal the detail better than the scrub.
Thanks for the view and question. I guess I’m just set in my ways. Everyone has their secret for field cleaning. Special sprays. Extra water jug just for cleaning. I just brush off the dirt best I can. Plus sometime I don’t like adding extra moisture to a relic that has just been exposed to air. Don’t have the scientific explanation but just is what it is I guess. Thanks again for stopping by
@@RonSwensonRelicAdventures I'd never thought that adding moisture to an old relic might be harmful to it but that's a good thing to consider. I live in a Gulf state and I don't know of any battle sites around here that aren't on the register of historic places and none of the old homesites I've searched had anything more than trash and old broken iron so, you are fortunate to be able to hunt old campsites and skirmish sites. Fortunate indeed.
Hey teaberry. Thanks for stopping by. Nothing wrong with Eagle buttons when you are in a Union site. But we were in a known confederate camp so an Eagle button is a bit of a let down there. Still fun to find and a great relic but just the wrong button for the site we were in. Lol
Hey BSPF!! Cameron might be using a version of the CH programs but I have tweaked my own over the years using a different base program. I think they are all pretty similar but some of the programs utilize the frequencies a little different. Thanks for dropping in!!
Hey Richard -congrats on the D2. Thanks for dropping by! I built several programs using the GENERAL as the foundation program. If you run general and adjust the reactivity based on the amount of iron or trash in your site you should be fine. Don't be afraid to run 0 reactivity in low trash areas. It is the deepest. Then increase reactivity based on the amount of trash. I personally have never run more than 3 reactivity in my sites and still get fantastic separation. I run 0 disc and a iron volume of 2. I like to hear the iron. But you can run 5-10 disc and not lose any performance. I run full tones. Just like to hear the variation. personal preference. The preset programs will work fin if you select General or Park. If hunting deep silver coins you can just run Deep HC. That can get a bit chirpy as the soil setting on that is 1 I think. I run mine at 2 to silence the ground down a bit. Check out Gary on XPmetaldetectors (RUclips) videos on every aspect of the Deus and D2. Good Luck.
Hey VetDetect. I have not done a head to head with the CTX and the Deus2. Mark and I did plenty of testing with the original deus tho and obviously the Deus separated better even vs the 6" coil on the CTX. But feel the CTX (coil for coil) was a deeper machine with better ID at depth. However, I have found that the D2 does a great job of VDI at depth. Much better than the original Deus. I have moved to the 11" coil on eh D2 and in the soil I hunt get some really good depth. The minelabs were always good in the mineralized CA soil but I am seeing good depth with the D2 here. Cant say it is any deeper than the original Deus but it does have better ID. And the D2 is 1/3 the weight of the CTX so that alone is a big part of me using it. 20+ years of the heavy minelab tanks has taken a toll on my shoulder!! LOL Dug a pile of stuff with em tho!!
sorry bud! You are always after that big gold nugget. Forgot to pack it and place it on this trip. I will try to do better and drop a big nuggie in the hole on the next video!!
