Hey Joe, thanks for being vulnerable & transparent in this video - I think it could help so many people. In my circles, burnout is really common. I've struggled with it for several years myself & really connected with & learned from hearing your experiences - I, too, have only recently started to come out of the other side of it. This is something that people are only recently becoming aware of, too, & videos like this help to legitimate experiences & bring more awareness to the breadth of the issue. It's a serious problem, especially for younger generations, critical sectors (like healthcare workers, educators, etc.) - honestly, I think most people are running on e. There should be better resources for folks like us. I hope we can find better ways to collectively support people through this. Thanks again for this video & wishing you the best with your healing.

This is what is inspirational and real because you are letting people know exactly what burnout is like and how long it can last. ...And how to recover, thanks.

Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing your burnout experience openly, Joe. I can relate to a lot of what you said, having gone through something similar. The spinning plates analogy, the mist in your head you described, negative things seeming to pile up, not identifying with your thoughts. I hope you'll be able to get back on your feet 100% and find a way to accomplish everything you want to do in a sustainable way. Good luck, I'm rooting for you! 🙌🏻

This is such an important video and message to put out - you’re so right, when you’re in it, you have no idea you’re in it and sometimes you do realise a little too late! I’m so glad you’re feeling better now Joe! ❤️

This is awesome Joe, thank you for being so honest. Having just gone self-employed, this has served as an incredibly important reminder to check myself early and not to let things get out of hand. I think I'll probably return to this video now and again. Thanks mate ❤️

Take it easy my friend - when it's fun and exciting make the moves and get the momentum going. Then if you ever feel like what was previously exciting, energising or enjoyable is no longer that... take a step back because you've over-done it.
It's definitely a dance! I like Naval's quote on this which is "work like a lion, rest like a lion'. Basically detach from hours as your metric of success and focus on deep work so you can get a lot of done in little time, then have a clear cut-off time like everyone else does in a 9-5!
Really excited for you with what you're doing - if you ever sense this happening please talk to me!

Hey Joe, Jeff Davis here. I'm an author originally from the States now living in The Netherlands. Awesome video, I relate to all of this. Glad you're feeling a bit better. I went through a brutal burnout back in 2020. I wrote a blog post about my burnout recovery journey and it's similar to what you talk about here. I especially love your point about going to the root cause, that's crucial and smart of you to say. Great job with your openness. You're gonna be alright, keep doing what you're doing man.

Hey Jeff I'd really like to read the blog post, could you drop a link here please?
Thanks so much for your time here, really nice to meet you and I'm sorry you went through this too, but the fact you turned into a positive experience is amazing

@@JoeGannon Hey Joe great to meet you as well. I appreciate the acknowledgement, it's definitely been a process and journey. It's awesome that you're using your experience to help others, as a lot of people are burned out these days - including people who don't say it. YT won’t let me share it here. Shall I send it to you via LI or email?

Hey Joe, it takes a lot to put your story out there so openly, kuddos for that and the reflection on it. I have myself re-assessed my life and made some major career changes. Mental health is a priority and advocating this for the past 2 years made me realised that i was meant to be in this field. Keep inspiring brother 🔥.

Bravo Joe. What a brave thing you've done here. I love this kind of honest content, and it's what I try to do with mine too. I love the domino analogy, and I'm sure it will appear soon in my own writing or video-making, probably even tomorrow. Diet and exercise are my big two and they're slipping again because I'm sad. You've reminded me of that and I'll see how that manifests tomorrow. I walked up the Hill of Beans every day with my dogs, then my dog, and now both of them are at end-of-life. That's contributing a lot to my mood and I haven't been able to bring myself to go out without the dogs since they second one became poorly.

This was a really good video and very helpful for me to hear. It's from a much more practical and business minded frame. But also my one criticism is about the part where you mention being broken forever by going too far. That isn't very redemptive or transformative in the Buddhist sense. Any karma/suffering can be worked out of, you can even grow resilient to pain and not allow yourself to be limited by physical disability if you cultivate inner strength. Personally I've survived very deep falls into psychosis and delusion without being hospitalized thanks to Buddhist philosophy and breathing practices (plus support from my family).
