    I was into fashion way before I ever found a connection to perfume. To me Dries’ clothes are romantic and I always pictured them being worn in an old money estate. Like the clothes had been passed down through the generations of this imaginary family and are now being worn by the youngest heir to the riches. Lots of leisure inspired stuff with gorgeous fabrics that look they could have come off some garment in a museum. I’d love to know who Frederic wears. He obviously wears bespoke suits which you can see in small details. I think his tailor is English rather than French but I could be mistaken.
    I can see why they have respect for each other as their brands are oil paintings when most as taking pictures. This perfume didn’t work for me but I did get a bottle of Mons Dan Lit linen spray (Bruno) for a steal. Waiting for it to come in it’s probably one of my most indulgent purchases.

    Fun fact: Frederick Malle grew up in apartment that used to belong to the Guerlain family and his room actually belonged to Jean Paul Guerlain. And his mother’s family connections founded Christian Dior Parfums.
    Amazing scent. Like a cookie dipped in rich warm milk. Actually contains real genuine Mysore Sandalwood. Thanks for the review 👍👍👍👍

  • @timothyjohn9412
    @timothyjohn9412 5 лет назад +1

    Hey Eugene. I have a few Frederic Malle fragrances… One of them I bought because of you which is Noir Epices.. which I love.
    I live in Texas and I went by Neiman Marcus to do some sniffing in the late summer maybe August. I went by there a specific counter and tried this one. The last time I smelled it I guess you could say my nose wasn’t mature enough to handle what I was smelling. In this case I sprayed some on my wrist and what I smelled was sweet tart like candy… But when it quickly dried down I smelled more of what you described in your review. Very much like being in a café or bakery. I went directly from the perfume counter To play 18 holes of golf with a friend. It was easily 100° outside. My buddy kept asking me what I was wearing. It is definitely not a fragrance for the summertime but it smells amazing. The sales associate gave me a five mil Bottle that did not have a sprayer attached to it. It had instead a dabber. I probably have one to two mill sitting in that bottle still and this stuff is a Tomic. It is one of those fragrances I am thinking about getting. I do think it smells amazing. It’s just hard to justify buying all of these cold weather fragrances since I live in Texas. Great review.

      Timothy John thanks for sharing your story, if it’s something you enjoy and would like to wear in the heat I would recommend applying it from a further distance thereby diffusing it somewhat, hopefully decreasing the intensity.

    There was a sour green element that bothered me (off my skin), but i do like the concept of the perfume. I will give it a try again. I'm intrigue to discover the mysore sandalwood note (its probably well blended into the perfume)

    • @Alexander_Tronstad
      @Alexander_Tronstad 4 года назад

      I don't know if you tried it, but I got sent a sample of real 80s mysore sandalwood with my last purchase from Ensar Oud, and after smelling and burning some, it definitely is a more buttery creamy soft smell than what I normally associate with sandalwood. Before this my head sort of mostly associated the sandalwood with Boss Bottled and how it is in there. Now that I know what Mysore smells like, I feel Dries van Noten has pretty much a bunch of mysore permeating the whole scent. It is in contrast to all the other scratchy notes going on so it makes the perfume not as clean smelling, but the sandalwood is all over this one for sure. Dries van Noten though, the perfume I think I have to try some more - initially I am not a big fan, it's something too nauseating about it. But... as with Jicky which somewhat has that same effect, it probably is fine used properly when allowing the scent bubble to create a warm-skin effect type glow when it is diffused properly, instead of the fraghead way of spraying a big dose on my arm and burying my nose in it for an hour. I'll see if I can bare it and if I like it more!

      I also got sent a sample of a sandalwood oil from 1998 from him. Also very buttery smelling sandalwood.

    • @Alexander_Tronstad
      @Alexander_Tronstad 4 года назад

      As for my experiment with Dries van Noten, I couldn't stomach it anymore when I woke up and it still gave off it's scent. I find it very nauseating and had to eventually scrub it off. There is just something in it, not the sandalwood, but something is just not right for me. I think it will be a while until I can stomach another wearing if I don't give away my sample first.
      Still absolutely mesmerized by Musc Ravageur though, and have a FB and the body butter on the way. Instantly blown away by that one!
