This new show about the Los Angeles Clippers is so terrible it's actually comical that it's still on the air! Clearly influenced by HBO's "Winning Time," Hulu's new show is getting destroyed by fans. The actors don't even remotely resemble the players they're portraying - Blake Griffin looks like a shady used car salesman! Even Austin Rivers, a former Clipper and son of Doc Rivers, had this to say. Plus, Laurence Fishburne, who plays Doc Rivers, didn't even know who he was! What is this writing?!

So why even cast players. Use actual game footage and whatnot. And use actors for all the Sterling scenes. You don't need actual players.

The only thing I see wrong with this series is they’re making a show about a team who’s players are still in the nba today. It’s a lot harder for people to be immersed in a show who’s characters aren’t much time removed from the dramatized story.

@@jordanjohnson9498after a while players like Jordan, Bird and such become more of an idea. Whereas players like Curry are still very active in our day to day as basketball fans so that disconnect doesn’t happen nearly as easily
That’s what I was thinking. I thought it was fine and once I got over how different they looked it was a good watch. Kinda funny when they’d show them playing and every player was about 6’2” and just as tall as Chris Paul, but 6’11” actors aren’t too easy to find. I think Winning Time had better casting but I might feel differently if I watched it in 1985.

As a Clippers fan who lived through the Sterling dark times and was rooting for the team to be sold, I'm enjoying the show and not bothered by the actors not looking like the players, I'm sick of that superficial take

It’s not bad at all. From a show standpoint, it’s pretty good. Obviously if you’re an NBA fan you’ll realize the casting isn’t incredible, but the writing and production are very strong

I want to see the show but havent gotten a chance...with that being said, I think it is much harder to cast for a modern era thing in which your target audience knows all of the characters real life counterparts.... Something like 'Glory Road' or 'Coach Carter' is so much easier to cast for because there really is no reference point for the average person that wasnt an expert on the story....
All modern day NBA basketball fans know who Chris Paul, Steph Curry etc etc are so it is easier to point out casting flaws

To be fair, the show's producers have to find actors who are really tall, so the pool of guys they pick from is more limited than normal.

This show is so bad that if you knew about everything that happened, it feels like watching a really bad mocumentary rather than a tv show.
In all fairness majority of the population is under 6ft tall and then to try and find actors that are basketball height is damn near impossible. They tried!
The show itself is fine. The latest ep featuring essentially the "origin stories" of Doc Rivers, the Sterlings, V, and even Elgin Baylor's suing the NBA was really well done. It's really the casting of some of the NBA players that takes you out of it.
The showtime lakers show only worked because the people they portrayed are 50-60yrs old now. The actors in this show look nothing like the players 😂

It’s tough finding big enough actors to play basketball players. Trying to find people close to the same height and a doppelgänger is nearly impossible. I haven’t watched it and from what I heard the players barely have any lines because they’re more of the extras in the story about Donald Sterling and his bs. It’s not centered around the players.
