This is a really cool video - I have been in Florida for over 30 years and shortly after moving here learned about scalloping in the Florida big bend area of Port St. Joe - Steinhatchee, etc. Have done crabbing, shrimping, fresh water, salt water and all the freshwater and saltwater fishing activities Florida - but have never been scalloping. With that haul - you all look like old pros. Its about 3.5 hour drive for us well from NE Florida. Well done on the video and editing. Thanks for taking me along.
Its definitely worth the drive. You can set in with kayak or paddle board from any public ramp or just snorkel in. Up to 2 gallons per day per person. end Aug/ beginning September is the season for them
Absolutely amazing so enjoyed seeing this. Loved the tiny little star fish that was on some. Always good tasting when you catch things yourself. 👍 Thank you for sharing
I came over from Daniel’s channel, Arm Family Homestead, because I hey met you at the Sportsman Banquet. Great channel guys! Can’t wait to binge you channels and get to know you all❣️
I found y'all because of Arms Family Homestead. I live in central Florida, some of the best times I ever had with my son were diving for scallops in Steinhatchee, Fl. Now I have to catch up on the rest of your videos.
Man! I love St Joe Bay scallops. Did that many years ago. The scallops looked awesome. Now, go for the Appalachicola oysters. Buy them straight off the boat.
3 1/2 hour drive to get scallops? I gotta say it was interesting but not worth it in my book! But I don't care for sea food either! Lol. It was cool watching you get them. Fun day if the drive wasn't so long.
We are in Central Florida/Kissimmee and this looks like so much fun!!! We love our scallops ❤️ Silly question but did you need any kind of fishing license to do this?
Hidden Oaks Homestead Thank you so much for letting me know 😊 We are always looking for some family fun especially now!! So happy to have found your channel 🥰

Looks like fun! I’ve never caught scallops, but used to dig clams all the time when I was a kid!
That sounds fun too! Where'd you go for digging clams?

It made for a long day for sure, but it was alot of fun and it was a great opportunity to teach our kids where food comes from.

we did need a fishing license, however there is a free fishing day for scallops season you can go on as well. no license needed in that case

Wow that was an awesome video. Just curious can you cook them in the shell like a clam? I have no idea. Lol
Yes, you can steam them as well, but you still need to clean the muck away lol. They're pretty versatile
@@HiddenOaksHomestead Looked really good when you were cooking them .
@@SouthernBlessedHomestead they sure were. They are sweeter then sea scallops
