After watching this and Julian Krause comparisons I'm confident the Mini fuse 2 is right for me even though it's a couple years old. Thanks!

I have a Minifuse 2 and it’s incredibly good. That USB-port is incredibly useful when using a Macbook Air.

Video really helped and it removed my doubts on Minifuse 2 and NT1 mic, I ordered it from another country because both of them are not available in my country.

Hello Patrick. I just switched from the iRig Keys I/O 25 to the MiniFuse 1 and it’s working well. So far it’s great. I’m using an iPad with USB C and the iRig was acting wonky ever since I went from lightning to USB C. Was time to upgrade anyways. Thanks for the review videos and tips for GB. Appreciate everything. 🤘

Since I have the Magic Keyboard, that has a separate USB jack for power, the Minifuse has been the perfect companion to my iPad. Being able to connect audio, MIDI, and USB all through the one box has been really nice. I still like the Apogee Jam as a more portable guitar audio interface too.

I have the minifuse 2 and I run an ipad 9, Akai mini, mic and guitar through it and it’s absolutely brilliant. Zero latency and no detectable white noise. I picked it up nearly new with mic and headphones for £120. Money well spent as it brings a lot of joy and creativity and far outweighed my expectations. Just a heads up that you’ll need a powered usb hub for this set up as the ipad 9 doesn’t quite have enough power.

If you want to make music with an iPad the USB hub on the MiniFuse 2 (and TWO hubs on the MiniFuse 4) should being it to the top of your choices.

I have a gen 2 2i2 and wonder aside from the auto gain and redesigned lighting whether there's any improvement on the gen4?. I was looking into getting the Minifuse 4 but by the time it was finally released in the UK I'd ceased recording!!! If that changes in the future I might have another look.

Could you please also measure round trip latency on iOS with Onyx app in your audio interface reviews? This will be invaluable for any of us who need to keep latency on iPad as low as possible. Thank you in advance.

Need one for a mic and a guitar for some simple PC usage (discord chat, some random recording, nothing professional). Would the MiniFuse be a good choice? The cheaper option would be a Behringer UMC204HD

Everyone's needs are different as you rightly pointed out, and therefore the decision might be swung for any particular person by model-specific features that bias the scales. But on pre-amp quality alone, the MiniFuse is the clear winner. The ubiquitous red box even in its current 4th gen pimped version still sounds plastic and unnatural, even with the 'Air' artificial processing turned off. The MiniFuse has a full-bodied sound that I associate with more-premium interfaces.

Is it ok to leave a usb bus-powered audio interface plugged in to the computer or do you recommend disconnecting it when not in use? I'm using a Presonus Audiobox into a Mac mini. Thank you!

What kind of computer where the interfaces tested on? Mac or pc? Latency is important to me because I will be using autotune and reverb during tracking. I know focusrite seems to be a standard among budget interfaces but I’ve heard lots of great things about the mini fuse interfaces. Just trying to figure out if it runs best on Mac or pc latency wise

October 2023 I bought the Scarlett 2i2. Three months in and a major problem started. However many times I set and reset the input levels part way through recording one or both input levels would drop to half volume or virtually zero. Nothing solved the problem, so back it went. It may well have been just that particular unit but I'm now waiting on delivery of a Minifuse2.

Maybe you had the safe on which then set the gain down when something peaks, but doesn't turn it back up automatically

Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4 Gen, Audient ID4 MKII, UA Volt 1 which should i buy as first audio interface for recording an electric guitar?

    • @TheGaragebandGuide
      @TheGaragebandGuide  3 месяца назад

Can’t go wrong with any of those honestly. Scarlett has more features for beginners (auto gain, clip safe), Volt has good vintage sound mode, Audient ID4 has a dedicated Jfet instrument input.
The Audient maybe for guitars specifically?

Regarding latency at 5:31, I'm getting much lower latency than you with the Scarlett 2i2 4th gen.
At 32 buffer size, I get 5.6ms roundtrip latency, which is lower than both results in your video.
Maybe Focusrite drivers work better on Windows than Mac?

I'm not getting anywhere near as slow as 16ms latency on Scarlett 3rd Gen solo lol. Also on Windows, I have no latency problems playing guitar on amp sims. 16ms would definitely be noticable. Idk where that info comes from

The higher the frequency, the more latency, but this is true of any audio interface.

Which model do you have? I had an M-Track Plus for years and one of my ear-buds got damaged in left ear after connecting it to the interface for a while, and now my AKG headphones got the same problem, so now I have more suspicion that the interface might probably be causing the damage and want to replace it so that I don't kill another headphone. But don't know and although it's so old, it still satisfies my needs.

@@RamtinDidab I have the M-Audio Air - only two inputs, but all I need for mic and guitar. Very low latency, works like a charm. Never had problems using earphones with it, phantom power works well, as does the USB connector. After several years of use, it has not lost a step

I don't know which is best. I bought the Arturia mf 2 but I've never had an interface and few recorders. Getting the Arturia software bundles was a hassle. I don't wanna a give auto-tune corp. my CC# to get free-trial-that-auto-converts-to-a-hassle-to-cancel-later ware.
I wonder what processor is used in each and what is the input stage for each? What happens to the unused/dead input on each unit? Is it a floating antenna or is it shorted to ground? What happens when you plug in both XLR and 1/4" to the Scarlett 2i2? Is there a switch that toggles the input Hi-imp/Bal-XLR? Are the hi-imp inputs balanced TSR on either unit?
    Good info. Thanks.
