I'm from Poland and I love both of these entries. It's like comparing apples to oranges - Hungary is a super soft and sophisticated ballad, while Poland is a power ballad with a real diva. Both are worthy 12 points for me.
Though both singers performed in a way never seen before on the Eurovision ground, I'd definitely pick Edyta as the winner of this duel. Poland, 12 points!!
90s Eurovision is my favorite era of the contest because of gems like these! Hungary's was really nice, but Poland's Edyta Gorniak blew it out of the water with her vocal performance and could have possibly won if she didn't sabotage herself by singing half the song in English during the dress rehearsal which is the show the national juries vote based on (not the performance you see here). She risked disqualification for breaking the language rule, but while that fortunately did not happen, it probably cost her points. I couldn't find any information on why she decided to do that. My theory is that the Polish broadcaster at the time couldn't afford to win and then host the contest, so she was asked by her delegation to "sabotage" the performance that way.

Ireland won Eurovision 1992, 1993, 1994 so that might be also because of the third streak.. But 2st place for the first year of Polish song contest is an amazing reward. Irealand also won in 1996... But congrats! In my personal opinion, Edyta Gorniak should recive 1st place and Frederika 2nd and Ireland maybe 3rd. Personally, i don't really like the Irish song, because it's a little too boring for me even tho, he sang it pretty well. Nice video react!

An amazing thing is that I once visited her church in Budapest and actually saw her on stage. But: both of these songs are absolutely fabulous.

True. Original, Polish lyrics were written by a famous Polish lyricist - Jacek Cygan. It's very poetic. On the other hand, English lyrics are just okay.
Though To nie ja is wonderful and performed so strongly Kinek mondjam El vetkeimet and how Frederika sings it is mesmerizing and my 1994 winner. (From the Netherlands)
Shawn and Trey, That's cool, two new countries enter the Eurovision's contest. First song from Hungary. I agree Trey, this is more subdued. A very nice soft ballad with a very nice blend of guitar and orchestral strings. I agree, sweet vocal by the female singer. The lyrics are meaningful. Well said by you guys on the comments. The second song from Poland. It is also a soft ballad. You are right Shawn, a straight up love song. This girl can sing. Great vocal performance. Yes, Eurovision does feature all genres and styles. Both songs can win this song battles. Trey, good choice for the winner based on the vocal, but I have to agree with Shawn. The Poland song has a better vocal but the Hungary song is the better song, so I choose the Hungary song as the winner.
