With all due respect, this seems like more of a sales video for selling this truck.
A standard APU is so much quieter that this automatic engine start up system. Also with an APU, dont need the S-Bar heater. And don't have to worry about motor freezing up in wintertime.

🤣🤣.. Y'all would have NEVER made it back in the day... I started driving in 1979 and it was RARE that a truck had a working AC . If you broke down and you could fix it , you got out the tools and fixed it.. hot , cold , rain , whatever ... You slept with the windows down , in your drawers with the curtain open . ( in can overs no less, OR a hood with a little " coffin" sleeper) if you drove one of those . Running team to CA and back to the SE was a hot S. O. B.! I'm thankful for the modern equipment no doubt
Think about this... Y'all step easy out there

What you left out about that smart air system is the truck will start by itself to charge the batteries. Problem is when it starts the motor will rev up to over 1,000rpm which will wake and keep the driver awake because it’s ridiculously loud. So that’s junk. Also, that bendix system will get your driver killed

They should have opted for the Cummins motor instead of the PACCAR motor. They bought it, they are stuck with. I have the 2023 with the Cummins motor. The auto start on and off is smooth and “quite” with a lower idle RPM on the Cummins.
Mine doesn’t have the Bendex system. There are numerous problems with it. Like SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY. You can easily get rear ended with a high impact. There is no way to turn that off in the system. We ordered that system on our previous PeterBilt’s.
We did not order it on our new 2023 579’s for a reason.

When have you ever hauled that much weight? Why is the idea of just like driving a car in the truck such a good thing? I am driving a truck not a car. Keep all that fancy Electronics junk in your Mercedes and not my truck. And keep all those switches off the steering wheel! When backing up into tight situations, hands end up touching the wheel switches accidentally causing the settings and or radio controls to be changed, causing the driver to be distracted when he needs to be concentrating on what he is doing.
Also when I am driving for hours and miles at a time, my hands are all over the wheel to eliminate boredom and fatigue. With those switches in the middle of the steering wheel, there is no place to but my hands on the middle of the wheel. Something managers don't understand as they don't drive their fancy cars for more than a few minutes at a time.

That’s fair. However look across the news at how many at-fault trucking accidents are due to the driver not being able to stop their truck in time. Had those drivers had collision mitigation technology on their trucks, lives could’ve been saved. Also, so many passenger vehicles on the road are distracted and at any point could cut you off / brake check. Nothing wrong with technology that serves as an extra layer of protection to stop your truck in time in response to someone else’s wrong move.

What a shame. This is where Trucking has fallen too, and Peterbilt has had to do this to comply to the woke world of trucking, and having to fold to the world's way of forcing a change in everything that we use to take pride in. Congratulations to the woke steering wheel holders. You now have even more of what you want, and to the Old Hands, God bless you all even the steering wheel holders, but to the Old Hands. It was 30 years ago I claimed behind the wheel with a CDL, grew up in a family of true truck drivers who has paid the ultimate price of old school trucking. Crossing the desert with no air and no reefers and having to stop and ice their loads to get them back to the Carolina's. By the time I started running the west coast and back to the Carolina's Rooster Cruising was made easier with air and reefers. Only one time in My life I had to run a truck with no air for a couple of weeks and I tip my hat to the Old way hands. I left trucking because of my health, and some because of what trucking has become. Solar powered steering wheel holders, the lack of respect and the lack of trying to learn from the old hands. They are to busy playing with these toys they are putting on these trucks. They are trying to make a truck that can adapt to a driver, than training a driver to adapt and understand what trucking needs to be. God bless each and everyone that reads this, and I mean everyone. Please you young people who now hold the wheel, find an old hand if you find one, and learn respect before anything else, throw what you learned in a driving school out the window, leave the toys alone and become a truck driver, and not just someone who read an ad and said that looks fun and good in a truck. God bless and be safe, God and Jesus Christ loves you, he died for you and know that the end is closer than you think. Prepare your souls, before you plan your next run.
