I have a 2016 Roadster and want the Rio Grande windshield, but am having problems getting the right fork clamp and bracket setup. With the inverted forks, the clamp diameter is larger than all of the other XL's and the total width between outside of forks is wider. All of the sites I am looking at to buy don't have anything listed to fit this bike. Which options did you pick to get the right brackets and fork clamps?
@@micahvelli_236 Awesome! Thanks so much. I will have this order in tomorrow. I have a 1000+ mile trip coming up next weekend and the windshield will be a great addition to the bike.
@@micahvelli_236 Follow up - I ordered the Low Rider S clamps and Rio Grande - parts came in on a Thursday afternoon, left Friday morning. Three days and 1229 miles. The rio grande caught thousands of bugs that were meant for me. Thanks again for your help on this.
Hey man, i recently bought a roadster and you are the only person i’ve seen that finally explained how to fit a regular sissy bar onto the roadster. can you tell me where you got the sissy bar and the rear turn signals from so i can buy em too
Congrats on the bike man. I got the sissy bar from Harley, here is a link for the signals. You only need to use the supports, you can reuse your stock signals. Black Bullet Turn Signals&Bracket... www.amazon.com/dp/B07VVZ64GC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Did you have any problems with installing the bars onto the triple tree? The guy I’m working with to put my T-Bars on is saying that the upper tree has a molded or formed lower riser clamping. How’d you take off the stock risers
I didn’t have any issues at all, i just bought a new set of taller risers and installed them. Newer model sportsters don’t even need bar bushings. You will need to relocate your gauge either using a tbar mount or relocation kit.
Alright last thing, was there no issue because the upper tree wasn’t completely flat? I understand theres a sump or curve on the top side of the upper tree
@@marcourrea3913 the roadster has a completely different upper and lower triple clamp due to the inverted front end. The top clamp is not completely flat but it shouldn’t be an issue if you are doing tall risers.
Nice build man, exactly the look I want to go for, question did you ever install the 4.5 gallon tank? If so can you post a quick video of it installed or send me some pictures of it?
Thanks for watching man, I sold the bike before I got to install the tank but its very straightforward. You just have to swap the internals and install new hardware and fuel tank gasket.
I used the 21 low rider s for the mounting brackets and windshield as the Roadster has the same size front end as the Low Rider S. If you have a regular Iron 1200 you can use that one.
You have to loosen the top ring on the shocks but turning counterclockwise then crank the bottom ring clocks which is the adjuster to the highest setting. Once you do, you tighten the top ring back to new location of where bottom ring is. You may have to get get the rear wheel off the ground using a small Jack.
@@micahvelli_236 yeah I’m pretty sure it was in 03 they changed it up with the sporties, which is why you see a lot of bushings only go up to that year. I was just asking though, cause I’ve seen pictures of other risers in roadsters and it looked like that had bushings. Sick build!
@@justinlan8901 yeah i agree i believe they made a change to the triple tree that didnt require them. The roadster has a slightly modified frame and a completely different front end from all the other models because of the inverted forks. But ive seen 48s, 883s and 1200s without bushings. Get the clamps and rio grande from a 2021 Low Rider S, they are the same size forks as a Roadster.
