Because anyone with common sense knows rear engine cars will have more traction because the weight on the back tires and the car weighing less in total will give it the advantage.
As the marketing manager for the GT 500, give us your thoughts on dealerships putting $15k to $25 k on top of MSRP on these vehicles. That alone will do more damage to the brand than manual/auto transmissions. In my opinion.

Shifters are for drivers who are legends in their own minds. F1 cars basically use dual-clutch, paddle shift cars, and you're probably a better driver than the F1 drivers...right?
