3:21 You can see why they moved Rockne's grave site to the campus cemetery-after this video was shot of course. Look carefully at how some jerk(s) chipped off the corners of the tombstone for a souvenir.
In 1993 I was a student at Michigan Tech, in the upper peninsula. I visited the grave of George Giáp, in nearby Calumet. Took a picture of the grave marker and sent a ziploc bag of dirt to coach Holtz, and they sprinkled the dirt in the end zone before the Purdue game. I still have the letter from coach framed on the wall of my home office.
My brother, his son & I went to visit ND in December 2020. Our family is originally from South Bend & in addition to having several family members work at ND, we also also have had several family members that attended & graduated from ND including our father who received his MBA from ND in 1973. As many times as we'd been to that campus (too many to count) we'd never been to the on campus cemetery. The campus was completely empty (bc of the Christmas break) so we couldn't find anyone to help direct us around the cemetery. We eventually found Rockne's grave at the Highland Cemetery later on a VERY cold December day. Thanks for the video. We'll be able to know where we're going next time.
Thank you so much for watching! That is awesome to have ties to Notre Dame like that! The campus is beautiful. Christmas break is a good time to visit the campus as it is less busy and if there is snow on the ground it is amazing. We just happen to stumble up Regis's grave as the stone was not there yet. Hopefully this helps you find it on your next visit.
Very nicely done..the college certainly knows how to pay respect to their alum that are resting here...and of course to the most well known coach in college football, Coach Knute Rockne.
My Grandfather who worked at ND his whole life from his graduation at ND in the early 1920’s to his retirement in 1969 (and knew Knute Rockne) is buried a couple of graves to the right as your facing the the grave stones of coach Rockne
Knute Rockne is a legend. I was watching another RUclips channel “Infamous Crime locations” and he did a story on 14 people murdered at a Post Office in Edmond, Oklahoma. I was looking at the names of the victims and noticed the name Rockne. One of Knute Rockne’s grandson unfortunately was a victim. 🙏❤️
Thanks for watching Diane! That is a very interesting and sad story! That is crazy to hear about him. I will have to look up that story now. Thank you for sharing.
How do I put this tactfully, basically you really took 12+ minutes for Philbin, Rockne & Parseghian. Why do I think you happened to come by Schivarelli's gravestone by accident? Notre Dame is an old, large, famous university with strong alumni connections. With some research you could have come by many other people of note.

Thank you for sharing! That is cool that he knew Knute. What Great story!
Don’t forget Edward Moose Kraus is also buried at Cedar Grove.
I believe Aaa Parseghian's surname is pronounced "par-seeg-yen" (with a hard "g" sound).

Reg
University of Notre Dame, not NDU.
Good point never realized I put it that way!
But never Univ of West Va! It is WVU, and they'll hunt you down if you get it wrong !
Go Irish!…all the way to the grave
